Is there any word on the ground inspection / grading yet?

Post by dfc1883 » Thu Nov 17, 2016 12:26 pm

From today's Northern Echo...
Representatives of the Football Association inspected Blackwell on Tuesday, while yesterday members of the Stadium Advisory Group visited the venue.
I'm looking forward to hearing the news. :)

Two weeks until the Salford came. Any news on whether we'll be back in Darlington yet.

Let's be honest this one can go either way so for me I expect things to be a late decision and no surprise if we play the 3rd December at HP.

To go from nothing to what we have now has been amazing in the space of really about 7 weeks.

The club will announce either was asap and as soon as they know then we will know. Not 100% sure how these things work but the ground doesn't look ready just yet so not sure how it could be passed for definite, maybe with guidance of other things to complete possibly.

Happy to give the board time to continue working before they announce either way.

On Tuesday night lights had started to be added into tin shed and lampposts added to car park but not sure they had lights added as yet. Also no crush barriers in tin shed, not sure if this has all been completed yet but if FA turned up Tuesday how can they 100% pass the ground in that state?

Once there's official confirmation I'm sure Ray Simpson will put it out on the web site.

It was never going to pass. For reasons that super les outlined. let's hope the list of things to do is achievable before salford game but it's no disaster if we have to wait 3 more weeks especially given it should be a 2k crowd again if played at HP.

I rather like the idea of a Boxing Day opener against the Shaymen.

Ah..Sarcasm...Quite surprised to see that from you Mikkyx..
It hasn't been in the echo yet for people to read....Which as Darlogrumpy said. Was where I got the info from.
I posted it on the thread as TD is from Salford and probably was not aware of the visits...

No, I'm pretending I have inside information when I actually don't.

Not that anyone on this board would ever do that.....

I have nothing to do with Darlington FC apart from the supporting side.
I dont live near the town, I get there about once a month if that.
I never go to any of the forums.
However I have supported them for nearly 50 years..
Why would I pretend to be "in the know" as you put it...I dont even know anyone who is In the know..
Your still pissed off with me because I wouldn't tell you why I don't like Dave Penny..
Where you get the idea I am pretending I know something is beyond me , and probably everyone else on here.
Enjoy your day.

You don't even know why you hate Dave Penny! You went through a load of different reasons and realised everyone was irrational. Now you pretend you were hiding it from us!

Ok then.

You stated that you disliked Penny because he "was one of the first leave a sinking ship".

When that was proven to be an illogical reason, you pretended that you had a secret reason for disliking Penny and wouldn't say what it was. Making you the smart guy and the winner!

It's Ok, we all understand, nobody backs down on the internet.

I gave my opinion in a statement and that is all....It is still my opinion that he was the first to leave a sinking ship regardless of you thinking it was illogical.
I may or may not have other reasons. But that is for me and no-one else.
Now this discussion is off on a tangent to the thread topic and is getting tedious for me and others who look for decent comment...I will leave it for you to have the last word should you decide to do so.

The level of back-pedalling, paranoia, defensiveness and over-sensitivity from MyOpinion in this thread is genuinely hilarious.

It's a shame he isn't posting further because watching him trying to squirm out of the corner he's backed himself into is making my night.

Back on topic.

If the ground has failed it's inspection on Tuesday, I wonder if there is another inspection in place for next week? Surely this will have to be the case if we are aiming for Salford on the 3rd? As by the time the findings have been reported back, notified Salford and arranged ticketing then we are fast approaching that deadline.

Great to see the advertising hoardings being made up and due to be fitted over this next week also.

Salford have a 49 seater coach coming for this one after amalgamating two buses that they couldn't fill. Looks like we wouldn't need to give them too many tickets if BM gets the go ahead

Yet Tangerine Dreamer thinks those who are saying "give them 50/100 tickets" are jokers.

They do not and never will need more than 100 if they are our first opponents at BM.

Could be wrong but I don't think the safety certificate can be granted until everything required is complete, so it would never have been granted last week. A preliminary visit would be very standard practice, an opportunity to agree with the owners where they're at and what needs to be in place before a certificate would be granted.

You'd think that they'd have been some sort of announcement by now, especially if things had gone well.

Come on then give us a clue Pete - what announcement are you after.

"There was an inspection, and there is still more work to complete before the ground is ready"

In other news Christmas is on 25th December this year. I'll send an email to the club to make sure they do an announcement as such.

Who's to say there is an outcome as yet? We know the ground isn't finished.

FFS.

"We carried out an inspection and I can confirm the inspection was carried out".

Exciting stuff for us all to hear.

Not sure I get this obsession for official announcements every 5 minutes.....
