Re: FA Trophy
I can see St Ives away then! with a defeat no prize money and us actually making a loss what with the coach trip down and hardly any attendence to share the gate money.
Re: FA Trophy
Not the St Ives in Cornwall - even the FA would have difficulty putting them in the Northern 1/2 of the draw! Then again perhaps not!!
This St Ives is near St Neotts - still a decent pull.

Re: FA Trophy
Funny how seeing something sends you off around the Internet. I noticed AFC Rushden and Diamonds in the draw that surprised me and off I went and found them in an Evostik league. I never went to Nene Park but what a stadium that looks. It cost about £30 million and they're talking about demolition. Some of those items might have come in useful! Now they play at the dog and duck in a ground share- feels a bit familiar.

Re: FA Trophy
Lets have Blyth at home again. Should be a decent crowd and with current tactics a win.
Re: FA Trophy
Or perhaps our sponsors could do a footy special with a request stop on the East Coast line?dfcdfcdfc wrote:Not the St Ives in Cornwall - even the FA would have difficulty putting them in the Northern 1/2 of the draw! Then again perhaps not!!

I visited Nene Park for our first game of the season many years ago now, Maybe around 2005. Clyde Wijnhard scored a penalty in a 1-1 draw I think. Very tidy stadium with excellent facilities. Absolutely nothing around it though. Rushden were on their downwards spiral by that point, sad story with what happened to them. Good to see another club on their way back.

Re: FA Trophy
Would get excited about it and I am desperate for a cup run but we just don't do cup runs!
Re: FA Trophy
Can't really get excited about the FA Trophy even though we have won it, just doesn't have the same pull as the FA Cup

Re: FA Trophy
Blyth home or away would be great. It would be great to get through at least as far as the Conference sides entering the competition, as I'd love to see how we do against one of them.
Re: FA Trophy
A run of Blyth, York and then Gateshead could ensure very high crowds along the way and top up any prize money we won.

As long as we weren't relying on Gateshead bringing a good crowd...JE93 wrote:A run of Blyth, York and then Gateshead could ensure very high crowds along the way and top up any prize money we won.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Would have to be home draws so not much chance of that happening when we don`t do cups

Salford for the TV money. Halifax or Stocport for a crowd.

What TV money is this?Neil Johnson wrote:Salford for the TV money. Halifax or Stocport for a crowd.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

I don't think any FA Trophy games are televised apart from the final at Wembley.

Re: FA Trophy
3rd round has been drawn, see http://www.thefa.com/competitions/fa-trophy/fixtures
Fortunately, we are at home (well Heritage Park) to either Marine or St Neot's 26th Nov
C'mon Darlo, we need a good run in this one, all the way to Wembley
