As always Gray is thinking of his beloved Darlo, hopefully he'll be with us for at least another 5 years.

Great news that. Made my day.
Re: Martin Gray agrees 5 Year Contract
This may of been mentioned previously, but if Gray was to stay for the full 5 years - where would that rank him in terms of the longest serving Darlo manager ?

Brilliant news.
Re: Martin Gray agrees 5 Year Contract
Assuming this list, http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd ... s=managers, is accurate (and assuming I can add up) then if MG stays at DFC for another 4 1/2 years then he will become our longest serving manager of the 20th and 21st centuries (can't find a list of our 19thC managers) surpassing the 8 years 9 months served by both Tom McIntosh and Jack English (1902-1911 and 1919-1928 respectively).BUSHEAD wrote:This may of been mentioned previously, but if Gray was to stay for the full 5 years - where would that rank him in terms of the longest serving Darlo manager ?
At the moment, MG's 4y 5m in the job makes him the 6th longest serving manager of the 20th and 21st centuries behind McIntosh/English, Dick Jackson (6y 9m, 1912-1919), Bob Gurney (5y 7m, 1952-1957), and Jack Fairless (4y 9m, 1928-1933). He'll move up to 5th in four months time and in 14 months time he'll be 4th and will become our longest serving post-WW2 manager.
Re: Martin Gray agrees 5 Year Contract
Does Hodgy with a combined 7 years 3 months make him third longest.?
Re: Martin Gray agrees 5 Year Contract
I've just tried to 'tot' up his league record (not cups !!) since he became manager at our nadir.... 4 full seasons and 12 games of this season ..... there might be an odd error in the calculations but it's near enough...
Won 137
Drawn 22
Lost 29
Goals for 478
Goals against 166
Stunning record by any stretch of the imagination....
I know it's been done in the lower leagues but he must be 'up there' as Darlo's greatest manager ever. Whilst that is clearly a subjective observation, it's one I'm sure a few may agree with...
