Team for Saturday

Post by poppyfield » Fri Sep 23, 2016 9:11 am

The news that Josh Gillies has signed a new contract and looks like he will be available for Saturday is excellent. So how will we line up? I suppose the big question is who will be the back 4, With Brown suspended ( 7 day rule ) and assuming Burgess not yet ready, I think I would go for Marrs Hunter Nowakowski Galbraith, Nowakowski has played there before and Galbraith is much better in the LB position.

Thought it was still 2 weeks before suspension starts at this level?

Agree with that back four if Brown is out. Galbraith should go back to his strongest position rather than moving him and therefore also leaving us weaker down the flank.

4-4-2 for me, with some much-needed width and a start for Cartman alongside Beck.

Hopefully Brown will be available, does anybody know how many games he will be banned for and once he's served his suspension will all of his yellow cards still be counting against him or will they now be removed?

I asked the question earlier in the season and got this reply, so that's what I based my information on, I will have another look.

Attention Fans: Suspensions in North/South now take effect after 7 days and not 14 days. National remain immediate. #educate #informative

Yep, I read it was now 7 days for bans. FA site shambolic this season for this info though. Too busy saving the National Team with the B Team tournament.

Yep - Brown suspended so no him or Burgess tomorrow.

Personally I would like to see us line-up in a 4-4-2:

Woolston; Marrs, Hunter, Nowakowski, Galbraith; Thompson, Portas, Falkingham, Gillies; Beck, Hardy

Subs: Robinson, Scott, Mitchell, Cartman, Purewal.

Could argue that we have 3 of our most influentual players out so a big performance needed from those that step in.

I would say 4 influential players missing with Jameson, Burgess, Brown & Turnbull.

When Jameson is fit I think he brings confidence to the back four and not seen many goalkeepers better than him and he has age on his side to improve further.

With injuries and suspension our squad is looking a bit thin if a defender get`s injured might have to try and just outscore opponents

Someone should tell the N.Echo, this mornings article says Brown suspension doesn't start until next week. Hopefully the club are more up to date than the Echo!

Lots of comments on twitter saying he is eligible to play? I just hope the club has got the correct information and this does not come back to bite us in the butt!

Brown is suspended, no way around it. Durham and the FA website both state it, the rules state it and the club are aware.

Gary was expecting to play but clearly won't be playing today now.

On the plus side for Gary it's only a 1 game ban for this type of sending off.

On the negative side he is one yellow card away from another 1 game ban.

I assume the club take their information from the Durham FA than the Echo.

The injury glut is making for some interesting team selections.

Personally I would rather see a loanee or youth team centre back than a player being "converted" to a new role. The strikers in this league need to dealt with by a specialist.
