It's in the Echo.

Keeper will be eligible for tonight but other player needs international clearance so probably won't be.

The young lad is only 18 - think he'll be physically strong enough or experienced enough for this league? Is Bell injured or simply not good enough for this level? I would have preferred a more seasoned older keeper, but time will tell.

I would be more than happy for Bell to play in goal, as he looks fit and ready to go, his kicking accuracy and positioning at set plays is better. MG says Jameson is young and still learning but I do not see it from last season or whilst his place is not under threat. I'm just so surprised the Jameson injury has been allowed to go on so long by MG and Bell was only going to be used if Jamesons leg or arm fell off completely.

Bell is away for two weeks from today.

I don't think age should be a concern, it depends on the player. I'd rather we borrowed a talented youngster than a bog standard journeyman, just based on age. Schmeichel was only 19 when he played a few games for us and he was plenty good enough at that age.

5' 11" isn't very tall, hope Bradford PA don't have a very tall striker. Hope it's a good move for the lad and for us. Will Newcastle allow him to be cup tied on Saturday?

I wouldn't think he'll be featuring in Newcastle's first squad anytime soon so I'd guess so.

Pickford was fine at a similar age in a league tougher than this one and look where he is now

I'd expect our defenders to be tasked with marking the opposition strikers, not our goalkeeper.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Perhaps he isn't finished growing yet? So long as he has good anticipation, vision and quick on his feet, he can cover the ground needed. Then he will need playing time to build confidence with the back four, but there again we have been forced to change this due to injuries and consequently are not keeping as many clean sheets as last season. Glad to see MG taking preventive action to address our current difficulties.

If it's the same young 'keeper that played for the Newcastle XI in the pre-season friendly then he'll be fine. I thought the 'keeper in that game had excellent distribution and looked confident.

Good stuff. No confirmation of how long the loan is?

Always a gamble with young lads, but you never know! If he's picked up a few things from the likes of Tim Krul he might just do...

From someone who's seen a fair bit of York over the last two seasons I can tell you he's shite, and one of the laziest footballers I've ever seen. Often held up as the type of player that's got York into the decline they're in at the moment.

He'll probably score now I've said that mind.

He's scored 49 goals in 10 seasons as a striker, one every 6 games  hope he doesn't break 50 tonight though

More info on the second player from the Echo:

"Gray also intends to sign a midfielder, though the player requires international clearance as his last club was in Scotland.

The Leeds-born 26-year-old played north of the border for six seasons, playing over 250 games."

Wonder who it might be...

Must be. Him and Andy Milne left Leeds at a very similar time and JF headed to Scotland whilst Milney stayed local-ish

my workmate is the uncle of our under 18 keeper karl robinson. he said yesterday gray wanted him to sign a contract because Fulham were showing interest. don't think he wants to move away from his lass though.

So now I hope all Martin's assistant managers on here will realise that he's probably been trying to get someone in all the time they (and me) have been moaning about the keeper situation!!!
