Yep listening to the commentary. We are on top, but Nuneaton just go close.

0-1 HT, we need to lift our game, I can't stand a further 45 minutes of pressure.

Sitting here, overlooking the beach in Southern Crete following the game, 6.50 pm and it's only half time! I watched Nuneaton Borough as a child for a couple of years when we moved there and remember watching them under the lights and a really good cup run. Funny how the memory retains stuff, Fred Crump in goal, Tony Alison ? up front and I think Norman Ashe on the wing. 47 years on and now we're playing them in the league!

Re: Match thread
Nuneaton start off the second half in the same way that they finished the first, with them well on top. Great save by Jameson.

Re: Match thread
Full time 1-1, 2 points lost rather than 1 gained I'm afraid.

Twitter suggests that Nuneaton deserved their goal?

Re: Match thread
Narrow and Deep tactics don't suit our team with our top back four playing.lo36789 wrote:Twitter suggests that Nuneaton deserved their goal?
Cant understand why it was used yet again.
Loses both possession and points.
Surely we had the ability to clear our lines, use the flanks and create more than one chance in the second half today.
Sounds like good players are confused with the negative tactics that give far to much incentive and encouragement to the opposition (& gets players injured)

Re: Match thread
So a run of form of 6-2-2 after 10 games, form that would see us pick up 84 points across the season if continued. (1 point from top spot based on last season's table, but will be different this season with Flyde & Salford).
Sadly we were always going to struggle with Burgess, Brown & Gillies not fully fit. Add Jameson & Turnbull to the mix and you have your lot.
Leon Scott was also unavailable.
It's also worth bearing in mind that this was our 10th game in little over a month, some of which have been against full-time opposition (including today). Thankfully this should ease off with just 4 games scheduled in October & 4 in November (including the FA Trophy fixture).

Re: Match thread
Have to agree it`s the first season where we have had more than a couple of injuries and with a small squad have done very well so far will settle for similar points from the next 32 games
Re: Match thread
Was darlo_pete just saying nonsense again then? Robbie has put on Twitter that it was a good point all said and done and that actually seems to be the consensus.
Has to be deliberate...surely?

Re: Match thread
True true. I was trying to understand at the time it just take a few more comments to get the consensus really.
Most seem to think a point was deserved by Nuneaton and actually given how stretched the squad is right now that it was a good point to get from our perspective.

Re: Match thread
Very frustrating afternoon. Didn't take Nuneaton to get some confidence today after they established our main plan is playing up to Beck. Didn't think much of Hardy today, his head went down after missing a very good opportunity early on.
Wish the players would clap the fans before they do the huddle. By the time they came over to clap, most of the away end had cleared.

Re: Match thread
Just got back from the game. We started like a house on fire and could have been 2 or 3 up. However , Turnbull 's injury hit us hard. Whoever said earlier on that fatigue was a factor has it spot on. We were very leggy 2nd half as we've played a silly amount of games in a short space of time. Remember that Nuneaton are full time. Gillies and Brown had some game time so that bodes well.
Unsegregated today and had a nice chat with some locals. You could walk right round the ground and the local fans changed ends in the 2nd half. Used to love that at Feethams.
Given the relative position of the 2 teams in the league before the game then a point at the start of the day could be viewed as a disappointment but given the circumstances of the day and Harrogate and Salford losing then a point was OK.

Re: Match thread
Just back from the game and Vodka-Vic has it spot on. First 20-30 minutes we were exceptional and could have been 3 up, Beck could have had a hat-trick. Just before Turnbull went off we started backing off too much and when he went off they pretty much controlled the rest of the game. Jameson made some quality saves and really kept us in it. I am not sure why Brown was brought on to play centre midfield rather than perhaps pushing Galbraith in there and allowing Brown to monitor the back 4. Hardy looked knackered from about 30 minutes in. Only three players really played well today for me and they were Mitchell, Jameson and Watson.
I would have taken 6-2-2 before the season for the first 10 games so can't complain. I feel Cartman must start in our next game though...
