What is the correct pronunciation of Purewall?
Is it, as before, Pure Wall or, as at the past couple of games Pure e wall?

Correct spelling would be a start.

Purewal.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Careful, people don't like it when you ask them to spell a player's name correctly.

Thank you. I laughed at your comments Spymann, Darlogramps.

Possibly the P.A. announcer will know why the pronunciation changed from last season to this. (Do you know who is the announcer?)

Just a thought, but maybe Amar got sick of it being mis-pronounced and advised the announcer of the correct pronunciation.

OK everyone. I have the definitive answer on this because I asked an Indian person.

It is pronounced Uh-mur Pu-re-vull (That's how a Hindi speaking person would pronounce it)
There you go.

Isn't Amar's family from the Punjab region? I'm no expert but I think Punjabi is its own language. And therefore would have its own dialectal variances.

Has anyone considered asking the lad directly?

Apparently his name is not a typical Panjab name. It is a Sikh/Hindi name.

Closest I can spell it for you is Pooriwahl

You can listen to Amar & Arjun being interviewed here - I think this is the definitive answer you're looking for... (a good interview, by the way, worth a watch)

Nice to see the lad on the scoresheet again. At least when he plays, he gives a lot more variation rather than lumping everything at Beck's head.

I was approached by somebody at the end of last season who stated I was pronouncing it incorrectly and he had checked with amar and he says it pronounced like "purrywall".
