Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
We were dominated 1st half, 2nd half we were in it a bit more, but we kept them out and took our chances when they came along. Happy days!
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
Chorley were a tough side who had a lot of possession but didn't make much of it in the last third. Really happy with how the lads battled and competed so hard. Would have been upset at that penalty decision against us. And do we now have the 2 best crossers of a ball in the league?

This is now our best points tally from the first 5 games of a season under Martin Gray. I thought we were supposed to find it tough this season!

Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
Excellent win , tough game, Chorley are a good team. Main concern for me is Jameson, he is clearly not fit, got to carrying some sort of injury, surprised he played the second half.

Always nice to see - even if it means nothing (though it's starting to look promising)

Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
We rode our luck tonight; Chorley controlled the play, can't remember us having a shot in open play during the first half. Most of our tactics were breaking up attacks and hoofing the ball downfield back to one of theirs. I'd like to report we were the best team tonight but we weren't. Chorley had left their scoring boots behind luckily for us. But our second goal was brilliant, straight after the second half kicked off; looking forward to seeing that one on the highlights.

Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
Galbraith is a star and his contribution to the team across the park is excellent. Chorley had lots of possession, but the defence was determined to keep a clean sheet, with Jameson pulling off some great saves especially in the second half.

Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
Think you'd class us as a dour side. Not pretty to watch but effective at what we do, which is make the most of set pieces. Don't think BedaleDarlo will approve. Certainly wouldn't suit Chris Moore.
Chorley had a fair few chances first half which thankfully they didn't take. Not sure why we left Jameson on - he couldn't take even the simplest of catches, punching everything, and can't have done his injury any good. Can't be long before we are saying goodbye to Nightingale- never made the bench again, Gray obviously doesn't fancy him after all - this season's Rob Youhill.

Re: Darlington v Chorley Match Thread
The stats said we had 6 shots and they had 14 and we had 1 corner to their 4, but what a corner, even I could have scored that one.
I think calling us dour is a bit harsh. When we get in front, then the opposition are bound to chase the game. But when we got the ball we did look a more threatening going forward. We're not going to dominate games this season from start to finish like we have done in previous seasons.
