What annoys me more about that table, is that they refer to us by our full playing name, yet they shorten FC Halifax Town down to simply Halifax, Stockport County is shortened to Stockport, and so on.

Why the inconsistency?!

The BBC just pull the information from Press Association (or someone similar). They are forever cocking things up. I remember when we were professional they'd keep adding players to our squad list because of an incorrect spelling on a team sheet. It would then take paper work and a week of waiting to get the details corrected.

I complained to them, the other day. Naturally, they've ignored my request

That makes two of us

Quite surprised that the Vanarama have our playing name wrong - they have us as Darlington FC 1883 so I suggested to the BBC to "correct" theirs in accordance with what the league show us - and to just lop the digits off if they were short of space... I thought it was worth a shot

Actually I was quite surprised by the address you need to write to if you want to send a formal complaint by post - it's a Darlington address:

BBC Complaints, PO Box 1922, Darlington, DL3 0UR

I googled the post code and it's in a shed on Faverdale!

Does the BBC Salford City fetish have anything to do with all of this misinformation?

Are we supposed to bite to increase interest in the BBC Salford City show?

BBC Five Live mentions their Salford location several times a day, why since they mentioned the Shepard's Bush location so little?

I may be wrong but the website is not actually maintained and run by the BBC or any BBC employees but a third party company who then upload all the information etc. onto the BBC Website

The majority of the online stuff about non-league is taken directly from Press Association as Kev said earlier.

So it can be a mistake at PA's end or from whoever is inputting for the Beeb (which I believe is usually someone in Birmingham or Salford).

It's not an excuse for it being wrong as it should be checked.

That said, some of the conspiracy theories on this thread from this messageboard's known nut-jobs are utterly laughable.

Good to see the obsession with Salford from some of our own fans still exists.

The irony of the Salford obsessed proclaiming an obsession for Salford by others...

This is the site I find most reliable - not without the odd error which gets imported from wherever the data comes from but the guy who runs it is very quick to correct things if you email him, and he was kind enough to change our name to just "Darlington" a couple of seasons back.

You can also click on the fixtures and see all of Kev's videos - and sometimes the opposition's video of the game... my son adds links to them all for our games:

http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/darlington/matches

It's a very well thought out site, and very well put together.

and I got an answer... looks like the league have just "corrected" our playing name :(

Thanks for contacting us regarding the BBC Sport Website.

I understand you feel we incorrectly refer to Darlington 1883.

Our data is pulled from external sources, and having reviewed the National League website, it also states ‘Darlington 1883’ as outlined in the following links:

http://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/tab ... ision_id=4 – *
http://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/clu ... lub_id=493 *

We appreciate your input, but I hope the investigative work we have carried out in light of the above links explains why the club is referred to in the way we do. Any changes by the official league recognition will be reflected in our own stats and coverage in due course over the next few years.

We have circulated your complaint to senior management and online sport editors in this overnight report.

These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your complaint has been seen by the right people quickly.

Thanks once again for taking the time to contact us.

Doesn't help explain why they then call "FC Halifax Town" just "Halifax", "AFC Telford Utd" just "Telford", or "Stockport County" just "Stockport".

[edit - I've written back to ask them to reconsider their decision in light of their flawed justification]

 :? :P :shh:

Well that's excellent. The table looks so much better without those numbers! Hopefully this will be the last season that this is a problem, although I somehow doubt it...

Quite right, run by a very nice team of people. Don't inundate them else they will all have to work harder! :D

Anyone else notice the BEEB did the same as last week. The results page on Ceefax had us down as a 2-1 win yesterday, but the League tables page only gave us 1 point. Was eventually corrected after 9 pm last night.
