Darlo/Sunderland Friendly

Post by poppyfield » Tue Jul 19, 2016 8:49 pm

Better performance tonight, a 2 nil win, MG will be a bit happier. Turnbull was the best player on the pitch. I must admit it was like watching Darlo playing a bunch of 'clones' .
Second goal was well worked.

Good performance all round tonight, Sunderland were pretty shocking.

Can't wait for it all to get going in two and a half weeks

I thought Nowakowski was superb tonight. I hope his hamstring is ok though!

Best I've seen Nowakowski play since the friendly against South Shields last year - where he played centre back.
Good team performance with Mitch having an excellent game as well

Very encouraging performance. The whole team was superbly organised. I suspect that the bookies have completely under-estimated our chances this season. Turnbull was outstanding.

For Sunderland only Bridcutt stood out for me. Lots of pretty football but very little end product.

Cheers Fozz. Not actually too bad of a line up considering the amount Buckley, Matthews, Bridcutt and Mavrias cost alone, even playing at half throttle.

Darlington had a chance to take on teams in friendlies that didn't park the bus, when they played against the young NUFC & SAFC teams.

The first game maybe game came as a shock, as we had to be more defensive & organised than the 3 previous friendlies against quick attackers.

The second showed a more organised and controlled approach, with resolute defending and better use of possession.

With our best core of players on the field we should at least cope well in the coming season and may have a punt at promotion.
