Re: Liam Marrs
Looks like another good signing.
Craig Stoddart said there would be 2 arriving, so I'm expecting more transfer news soon.

Re: Liam Marrs
Seemed a decent player in the 1 game I have seen him play, another interesting signing.

Re: Liam Marrs
perhaps the goalkeeper that was talked about?
Re: Liam Marrs
Plenty of experience at this level and a good pedigree should add up to a good signing. Gray has been after him for a while.super_les_mcjannet wrote:Seemed a decent player in the 1 game I have seen him play, another interesting signing.
The other signing is "a name which will be familiar to Darlington fans"
Russell? Chandler? Ramshaw? Someone else?!

Also Stoddard is tweeting 'and another signing, a name familiar to DFC fans, will be announced soon'.
Speculation time...

Wonder how many more signings we can expect - a striker and a CM maybe? Or are we done?
Also, no news yet on Gaskell and White

Yep Bell.
At Spenny play off final it was being discussed. Makes total sense in terms of reserve keeper and anything else Bell may do at the club.

Or Nowakowski, not sure as to whether he signed for 1 year last summer or 2.al_quaker wrote:Wonder how many more signings we can expect - a striker and a CM maybe? Or are we done?

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Gray has been interested in both so always possible, however I get the feeling Gray won't be forced into a move unless it's right.al_quaker wrote:Wonder how many more signings we can expect - a striker and a CM maybe? Or are we done?

Chandler tweeted the other day, thinking time. From what I understand Spenny & South Shields have offered very good deals, as a lad who now has no work (he is wanting to complete his coaching) I think he has been looking for the best deal he can get.
White I believe will move on and Gaskell is up in the air, however Gaskell would like to stay.

I wonder where Ramshaw is going to end up, and if we have any interest in him? In some ways, I think he'd be a better signing than Chandler. I saw the Chandler tweet - wonder if he is having to choose between us (higher standard of football, more fans etc) and more money elsewhere. Would be tough choice for someone who is having a bit of a career change.
It's odd that a decision over Gaskell is taking this long - MG is usually very quick about his business. Maybe he's waiting on a potential new signing.
I love this time of year - speculation all over the place

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Guess with White it will depend if he wants to play football or not. If he does he will have to leave, his game time will be severely limited with the recent influx of players.super_les_mcjannet wrote:White I believe will move on and Gaskell is up in the air, however Gaskell would like to stay.
If he is happy to coach and be an occasional emergency cover type player then expect he will stay.

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Is there a decision to be made? Gaskell signed without a contract last season, perhaps he is happy to continue that arrangement? Does leave us open to losing him if he gets another offer, but perhaps that suits MG?al_quaker wrote:It's odd that a decision over Gaskell is taking this long - MG is usually very quick about his business. Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Yes I suppose that could be the case. I'd find that a little bit surprising, but if both manager and player are happy with that then all is good!Magical Quakers wrote:Is there a decision to be made? Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
I seem to recall Marrs having a pre season game for us a year or so back ?
Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
I always thought we'd go back in for Liam Marrs when we got back to this level.
I was surprised when he turned us down to go all the way down to Boston, but clearly he wanted to play as high as possible, rather than taking the easier option of staying local with us but playing in the Evo D1N.
I think he will be a great signing and I think that will put the Baxter rumour to bed.

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
We're very well covered across the back now then, with Marrs, Hunter, Brown, Burgess, Galbraith and the chap from Blyth. I wonder who is going to be happy on the bench from that lot?!Quakerz wrote:I always thought we'd go back in for Liam Marrs when we got back to this level.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Big decision for Chandler, suppose South Shields home town club, big crowds decent money, not having to travel round the country might sway it
Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
According to the Echo, Gray wants one more player, understood to be a striker.
Also, Marrs rang Gray asking to sign!

Agree makes total sense, I thought he was an excellent keeper, presumably he can also challenge Jameson not just be back up?super_les_mcjannet wrote:Yep Bell.

That's a great attitude for him to ring Gray and say he wants to join the club. Can't recall that has happened that often in the past.

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Hatchy did it if I remember correctly.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Re: Liam Marrs + Mark Bell have signed.
Bell as a signing makes sense. He knows Jameson already, so there's a relationship to help him develop.
I've never seen Marrs play so won't pass judgement. But he has experience of this level and supposedly wanted to join us, which is a positive.
The Echo article indicates one more signing, possibly a striker although I wouldn't be surprised to see a central midfielder either.
Also good to see the majority of our transfer business getting done early.
