Game of the season?
Game of the season?
I'm torn between beating Salford at home and away. Both games are what champions are make of.

I'd throw in Blyth at home and White's winning goal., just as crucial as the Salford game's.
Re: Game of the season?
I would go for Blyth away. It showed games don't have to be 5 or 7 goal thrillers to have you on the edge of your seat. This was a superb all round team performance against an evenly matched opponent why gave as good as they got and it was decided by a definite contender for goal of the season. Great atmosphere, great goal, great game.

Blyth away easily the best game for me. Was not at Salford away but I probably would have been buzzing about that too.

buxton away at start of the season put us in our place and showed its going to be hard for that reason alone.oh and a decent ground.

Thursday's Whitby game featured one of the most astonishing spells of football I've ever seen from a Darlington team. Blyth away and Salford away and at home were amazing but what we did at Whitby was incredible and all the more fantastic given that it came towards the end of an exhausting, strength-sapping run of games that would have broken most teams. Whitby Wonderland for me.

LL, if that was only ONE of the most astonishing spells of football, I'd like to know anything that would be comparable. Considering the immediate and season-long circumstances it was an incredible first 45 minutes. I doubt anyone attending will ever see something similar again. It was one of those "I was there" occasions

Whitby away followed by that fantastic comeback at Salford, but considering the pressure those lads were under and the backlog of games we had to fit in, must be Whitby.

Blyth away ... No doubt ... If ever you wanted to use a game as an advert for lower league football that was it. Passion, commitment, skill and flair in the form of Gaskell goal.
Take the point about the Whitby game ..the first 20 minutes were the best display of power and authority over any opposition I have ever seen from any Darlington side, regardless at what level.

Salford away for me, I didn't think we could win the league until that day. It was the same old, same old until Portas got the first back and even though Salford went 3-1 up we had breached Salford/Ramsbottom defence for the first time and we did 3 more times.
Listening to Turnbull on the radio from Sat he also said that was probably the turning point of the season.
