Where will Darlo Finish? Fan Owned Half Season Review
Hi folks,
Quick message to say you are in the review here:

Also, good to see you holding your own in the league against moneybags Salford and hopefully you can do them over in the play-offs. Regardless, looks like you are on track to be back at the top of Non-League over the next few years anyway.
Any thoughts then let me know?

Cheers mate, but we'll leave Salford & Blyth to sort out the play-offs between them.eddyman00 wrote:Hi folks,

I like your write up Eddyman.
I will accept playoffs and whatever happens after that happens, if we don't get promoted this season then it may not be a bad thing with the costs of moving home hopefully this summer.

Fair enough. I do feel it is only a matter of time till you are back in the Conference (once you get back to Darlo) and then you will find you are practically back in the Football League, wondering why only two teams are allowed promotion.

That's just the way it's always been since automatic promotion was brought in. I don't think there was ever a stage when just one side got promoted and there wasn't play-offs for a second promotion spot.
Re: Where will Darlo Finish? Fan Owned Half Season Review
2002-03 was the first season that the Old Div 3 introduced a second relegation spot, with Doncaster winning the play-off final.
The season after , my beloved Salop won a play-off final vs Aldershot to become one of the few teams to this day to go straight back up to the Football League. It's been 13 years of 2 up 2 down and we're well overdue at least a third promotion spot for the League.

89/90 only one place, it was win the league or nothing for us in the Conference.Darlo_Pete wrote:That's just the way it's always been since automatic promotion was brought in. Maybe by the time you are ready to challenge in a couple of seasons they will have tweaked the promotion system by then. Conference North won't exactly be easy to get out of either. Even if you do go back to Darlo and average 2,000 you would still be a way behind FC United and Stockport in terms of attendance, both who will be in the league next season.
How many do you hope to get on your return to Darlo anyway?

People keep saying that we won't find the next league up so easy, as the one we're in. But we keep defying the odds and gain promotion. If we gain promotion this year, then that will be 3 out of the last 4 seasons we will have gone up.
If and when we get back to Darlo, I reckon initially we'll get 2500 and depending on how we do, we'll probably average just under 2000.

What an interesting read! At least we don't have the dreaded re-election that ended mid 80s. Darlington were never voted out but were up for it 8 times ( poolies 14 by my reckoning). How unfair was that system? I'm pretty sure back in the day you could only go up if a team was voted out but I may be wrong.

I found a record of them all with all the numbers of votes cast going back to the founding of the football league here...don'tbuythesun wrote:What an interesting read! It's an interesting read! Wigan had 34 failed attempts to get elected to the league, and Gillingham are the only club to have been re-elected to the league after previously having been voted out.

Is that when Gary Neville gets the sack? Would be funny if Lim then pulled his cash out of Salford, not like a non league clubs needs a billionaire.Mr_Tibbs wrote:I'll go with your prediction Eddy, just to put the cap on his worst ever SEASON in football
On the re-election , at least everyone knew that system was unfair and have to change but having huge parachute payments now means illusion of competition will exist next year but be almost as rigged.

Re: Where will Darlo Finish? Fan Owned Half Season Review
I spent a year in Southport and watched them regularly coincided with them being voted out that year. Only 5 seasons before they'd been 3rd division champions.... Horrible system at least now there's a chance of going up.
