Blyth v Salford
Re: Blyth v Salford
I'd say the title is Blyth's to lose but there's no clear 2nd team yet, which would get that crucial home tie in the play-offs. Salford threaten to pull away but it's not happened yet.

Long way to go as yet, however Blyth don't seem to have a slump the odd defeat (mainly to us) but they just get back on it next game.

Yes, Blyth are looking good. I reckon second place would be OK for us as a Salford avoiding tactic, they're not going to finish 5th.

Re: Blyth v Salford
I think if we can take at least 3 points from the 2 games against Salford, then we can end up at least 2nd, with the potential to fight Blyth for top spot.
Re: Blyth v Salford
If win our games in hand we have as good chance of winning the league as anyone else.
Rather obviously, avoiding defeat in the games against Salford and Blyth will make a significant difference.

That'd be a good way to settle it if we end level on points, or goal difference. Either would be good.Darlo_Pete wrote:I think if we can take at least 3 points from the 2 games against Salford, then we can end up at least 2nd, with the potential to fight Blyth for top spot.

I guarantee we will avoid defeat against Blyth, would you like to wager?Beano wrote:If win our games in hand we have as good chance of winning the league as anyone else.

31/8 2-1 win at home to Blyth
28/12 1-0 win away to Blyth
Try and keep up laddie.

A good crowd of 1432 watched last nights game, must of been quite a few from Salford, so when its our turn to host them, how many tickets do we send them? or should we just have pay on the gate?

50 tickets will be more than ample for Salford's usual away following.poppyfield wrote:A good crowd of 1432 watched last nights game, must of been quite a few from Salford, so when its our turn to host them, how many tickets do we send them? or should we just have pay on the gate?

Re: Blyth v Salford
I think, realistically, the league is beyond us now.
With the mammoth back log of fixtures including two games against both Salford and Nanthwich as well as games against Buxton, Stourbridge and Ashton to come to name a few clawing back that 14 point gap will be a very tall order.
The highest I would expect us to able to finish would be 4th or 5th, which in all honesty would be a decent return for our first season in this league. Although there is a long way to go and points will undoubtably be dropped at this stage I can't see neither Blyth, Workington or Salford going on the sort of bad run that would allow us to pass them by.
I've said previously that for me the ground situation has taken presedence over getting promoted this season, my view on this hasn't changed.

Re: Blyth v Salford
Best thing about this season for me is that we have no pressure on promotion at all, to the point where I am not even expecting/planning or really hoping. Just want us to win as often as possible, make the play offs and move back to Darlo.
2 promotions in 3 seasons has removed the instant pressure, the lads should play with a freedom and you never know.
Also when we play Salford, if we get beat so what, as long as we don't get drawn into a battle and have players suspended affecting other games.

Can't see how the ref called a penalty out of that one. Shocker.

he also missed a blatant professional foul in the 2nd half and a handball before the Blyth 2nd goal.

Id be happy to end there abouts, however we only need to win 3 of our games in hand to go 2ndquaker4life wrote: The highest I would expect us to able to finish would be 4th or 5th, which in all honesty would be a decent return for our first season in this league.

I'm thinking that it's realistic to think 3rd to 5th.

I think, realistically, that we can win the title.
Call me pessimistic if you want guys but I'm just being realistic here, and that is a virtue. I don't want no pie in the sky dreams around here, no sir.
You'll thank me come the end of the season when I shove it in your face about how right I was.

I'm sure everyone one of those lads believe they can win the title too.

We can win the title, as long as we don't get too many more games called off.

Re: Blyth v Salford
dunno who does their filming /editing?? know this stuff gets done by volunteers but they could certainly take some lessons off our team? Quality is nice enough, but content a bit arty farty? too bitty if you get my meaning?Am I just spoiled with our coverage?
