So that's where the boss was last night.

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
On a serious note, seems like an astute signing - he was top scorer in D1N when Ramsbottom beat us in the play-offs.
Re: Lee Gaskell signs
That is just the job. He has a fine goalscoring record and he showed against us a couple of weeks ago what he is capable of.
But I wouldn't fancy his commute for a training session!

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Not had the best of ratings from the Rammy fans this season but to be honest probably had a hard time trying to make somethign out of nothing.
Thought he was ok when we played them at home and hopefully will do better in our team.

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Looked decent against us.
If he lives in Manchester the travel distance is a weird one.
However, on the pitch should be a good signing. We only have two currently fit strikers, one of whom is Army who we can't push too much at this stage.

Cracking signing.
Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Good signing (assuming it goes through). We've been crying out for a striker all season, and he's got a good record. The travelling thing will be interesting - if it works out it might open the door to more long distance signings.

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
In November last year Gaskell left Ramsbottom to go to Warrington and was slagged off by the then Ramsbottom boss Anthony Johnson (now Salford) saying Gaskell was only going for the money (oh, the irony of that one). It will be good to face Salford with a player who'll no doubt have a point to prove
Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Especially if he is a 6ft 3inch nearly 15stone Rugby player Divas! Would the real Lee Gaskell please stand up and smash in the goals. Did he play for Rammy last Saturday?divas wrote:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Gaskell

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Interesting to see where he's going to fit in around Army, Cartman and Amar whenever he returns?
Out of the current forward line I can see Cartman making way for him.

love it! wrote:Considering we are Darlington 1883 I'm happy that we are named correctly
Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Quite the opposite I think. This means we can rotate our forward line. And condisering the amount of games we play in the north west we now have a player who does not have to do the long range travels to these games after a day at work which is one of the real struggles for PT teams and mid week games .
Purwal is still months away from fitness. Dowson currently injured and Armstrong has admitted he isn't 100% still despite his positive performances. Made sense to get rid of a couple of wingers to give us a fit striking option.

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Gray has also gone 4-3-3 at times in games so this gives us 3 fit proper strikers to try that, especially if Thommo is out for a few games

Yes. And clearly MG shares that view.

Have we had to play a centre back and a midfielder up front recently?princes town wrote:No doubt a decent player Do we actually need another striker?Bogratsteve wrote:Signed just now according to Ramsbottom

Short term definitely, longer term lets see how things pan out.

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
Don't think Gray would leave out Cartmen for any other reason than to rest him. One of the first names on the team sheet for me, does way more than he gets credit for.quaker4life wrote:Interesting to see where he's going to fit in around Army, Cartman and Amar whenever he returns?

Purewal - long term injury.princes town wrote:No doubt a decent player Do we actually need another striker?Bogratsteve wrote:Signed just now according to Ramsbottom

Dowson - injured.
Armstrong - still returning to full fitness after a serious injury
Nowakowski - said to be several weeks from returning.
Leaving only Cartman as a fully fit striker.
I did think we'd maybe look at a loan signing rather than bringing in a new striker outright, given once everyone is back, there's no way they can all start.
But we'll see how it works out.

I think The Echo said he would miss the match through business commitments, he missed a game around the same time last year as well I believe.Bogratsteve wrote:Believe he was at the Marine matchRUMPLESTILTSKIN wrote:divas wrote:https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Gaskell

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
I think this is a long term signing as, has been said, we only have one fully fit forward. Who knows if Amar will be anywhere near as good as we hope he will be after his long lay-off and even if he is he will need to be eased back in the squad - as should Army really. Dowson seems to be back up coming off the bench so I think he'll get plenty of game time to begin with. Wonder f he can play in defence? lol

Re: Lee Gaskell signs
A very valid point - almost half of our games are not in the north east, so travel time to matches is not hugely relevant. Training, yes, and there's also probably a lot to be gained from travelling to matches with your team-mates, but his travel to games shouldn't be too big a deal.JE93 wrote:Quite the opposite I think. We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Lee Gaskell needs to be added to the list of strikers on the prediction league.

Welcome signing providing more quality attacking options. He doesn't necessarily have to live in Manchester area (nothing on Internet?). Hopefully he's based a lot nearer to the NE.
