Read on NLZ that Deano Brown has taken over as manager of Norton, with Adam Rundle sacked. Their chairman has also talked about "renewed links with Darlington FC".

Have we got our reserves competitive fixtures through the backdoor, or merely a coincidence?

Reckon he deserves it tbh, he's worked very hard, now if Mick had gone....... Might be some benefit to us regardless, hope he does well

Just looking on there website, it looks like Pennell and Lovegreen are there at the mo, I'm guessing just on loan, as they are good prospects for the future

The same thought crossed my mind. Bit early to be sacking a manager purely on performance.

Whatever, good luck to Deano. He's a good lad.

Most of our youngsters seem to be playing for them. Perhaps Norton have become a feeder club for us.

Better experience for the pair to be in the Northern League playing with many adults.

Like Cocks & Mitchell it keeps the guys relatively match ready for potentially being DFC first team cover.

DFC Under 18s can offer more playing time to younger prospects if the club uses Northern League clubs as finishing schools.

Sorry to hear about Adam Rundle. Nice kid who could have had a far better career.

Read in the Gazette that five of our players are on loan at Norton, Lovegreen, Wilson, Morley, Pennal and Teasdale. It will be good for the kids to get some experience. However getting beaten 8-0 by Shildon last week won't do their confidence any good.

Winning is far easier if you know how to lose (and if you learn by the experience).

Are you a closet Sunderland fan, sounds like what they are clinging onto this season.

Sunderland don't learn. Never have done.

Good to see NortonSA got there first win of the season yesterday 2-0 against SeahamRS. Hopefully the Darlo contingent made a significant contribution.

Matty Pennal fired in the second goal for Norton yesterday. Well done Deano and the lads. The French midfielder Thibault Charmey that we had on trial has signed for Norton so expect to see him pop up in the first team at some point

Several Darlo kids getting experience in the Northern League is far better than playing for a youthful reserves team in a far lower level league.

Having a familiar team coach continuing with them could successfully control their pace of development.
