And an outfield player in goal. Wonder if they got word that we were fielding virtually a youth side (next seasons reserve side though) and decided not to bother.

Absolutely the right decision to play the kids MG. I know there were some views on here after the Warrington game saying we should still play our strongest team to keep the momentum going, but that would have meant part-time players playing 4 games, in 12 days assuming we get to the Final, which is a big ask. The result is almost meaningless, but even better we won so convincingly. In MG we trust!

I know the result means nothing in terms of this season, but it must be looking like a bright future. @Darlotrust tweeted that, after two substitutions we had NINE Under-18's on the pitch. Well done lads. :D

I did think today was a cracking game. And the lads seemed very comfortable on the ball. The only downside was the young lads to my right f'in and blindin and the groups of lads old and young arguing with every decision the ref made even when the decision was obvious. Well done though lads even though it wouldn't affect us it was a good game of football!

Great performance by the lads, they played composed football well above the level I was expecting. Admittedly New Mills were pretty poor, but as the saying goes, 'you can only beat what is in front of you'. The future is certainly bright, with these lads to supplement the players that MG brings in.

Fantastic performance by the lads, good skills, composed on the ball and some cracking play against a team of men, Ryu (10) & Matty P (9) were superb up front, expect Mark Fanning will be over the moon with the display.

Good banter with their keeper in the second half. He was actually a centre-half. At the final whistle he turned to the crowd behind the goal and said good luck to us in the play-offs.

Impressed with the youth today. Particularly number 10 - he looks a proper footballer.

Give them a year or two to bulk up, and we should have some v good players on our hands

Really impressed with the young ens today. Cracking run and delivery by Ian Watson for Pennal to head home.

Credit to the New Mills goalie. Poor bloke didn't really want to be in goal today, had banter with the Shed and wished us luck for the play offs

Ryu Williams seemed to have genuine pace which is very promising for the future. I was also impressed by Jose Wilson in midfield who had loads of energy and matched New Mills players significantly older and more experienced than him. Mitchell and Pennal must be pushing for the bench new season too.
