Top 6 teams after todays games, Sat Mar 21st 2015

I have scaled back some of the Top 9 (after people on this forum asked why 9 still) to the Top 6. I have kept the head to head matchups as they can still affect the playoff race. Harrogate fell away a couple of weeks ago, Droylsden have been left behind as the other teams have turned games in hand into points. Similarly Farsley have not been consistent enough to catch Scarborough who are now in 6th place. Mossley and Warrington have improved in 2015 but it is unlikely they can overcome (at this time) the points gap.
I read comments about Darlington missing the playoffs in last Saturday's Top 9. That feeling might have been a little premature, as Scarborough struggles and our win today built a larger points gap above Scarborough.

Todays results
DARLINGTON... 4-2 Prescot Cables
Farsley............ 2-0 Clitheroe
Harrogate R. A. 0-0 Kendal
Ossett Town..... 0-3 Salford
Scarborough..... 1-2 Bamber Bridge
Spennymoor..... 2-0 Warrington

Comments in current full league table order,
Top 9 games, played, outstanding etc

Salford 14 played, remaining fixtures Home to Spennymoor, Away at Scarborough.
Comfortable 3-0 win at Ossett Town today. In 1st place. Excellent home record against top 9 teams, 6 wins out of 7.

Darlington 13 played, remaining fixtures Home to Droylsden, Away at Northwich Vict & Scarborough.
4-2 home win over Prescot Cables, chance to go top on Monday night with a win at New Mills.

Bamber Bridge, 13 played, remaining fixtures Home to Farsley & Spennymoor, away at Droylsden.
Excellent 2-1 away win at Scarborough today lifts them into 3rd place. Only their 3rd Top 9 win of the season. Making a good push currently for a playoff place.

Northwich Vict 11 played, remaining fixtures Home to Darlington, Scarborough, Harrogate & Farsley, Away at Droylsden.
No game today. Best Top 9 games to play, home to Darlington & Farsley, and at Droylsden.

Spennymoor, 13 played, remaining fixtures Home to Harrogate, away at Salford & Bamber Bridge.
Beat Warrington 2-0 at home today. Big top 9 games outstanding, away at Salford, and now the away game at Bamber Bridge has now become a bigger game as the playoff push continues.

Scarborough 13 played, remaining fixtures Home to Darlington & Salford, Away to Northwich Vict.
2-1 home loss to Bamber Bridge, fallen to 6th place in the table. Todays loss has made Scarborough's chance of making the playoffs the hardest. Scarborough have Salford at home next week, the last of three straight Top 9 games (draw at Farsley, and todays home loss were the first 2).

My top 5 to win the league, make the playoffs, as of today.
1) Salford. It's their remaining fixtures compared to ours. Top 9 remaining fixtures Home to Spennymoor, Away at Scarborough.
2) Darlington. It's our remaining fixtures compared to theirs. Top 9 remaining fixtures Home to Droylsden, Away at Northwich & Scarborough. We need consistency.
3) Northwich Vict. / Spennymoor
4) Northwich Vict. / Spennymoor
5) Bamber Bridge

6) Scarborough.

My current forecast for the playoff games
Darlington vs Bamber Bridge
Northwich Vict. vs Spennymoor

Darlington will have to battle the whole way, shown below, the top 4 clubs games played, the top 4 score first, the gaps are games not yet played.

You're missing the Spennymoor v Mossley game from the last table.

Our match versus them is an absolute banana skin, they've taken points from all of the top teams, are gunning for the play-offs and habe the best away record in the league.

Hoping Scarborough do us a favour on Sat.

Thanks for pointing it out, fixed the missing Spenny game.
Mossley have been more consistent since New Year, winning at Droylsden, drawing at Spenny, then beating Spenny at home. We beat them 3-0 there in November, Apr 11 at HP will be a tough game to play.

I'm hoping for Scarborough to win on Saturday. And if they do, it gives them some confidence when playing us again on Mon April 6th, so far they have played us in the league and a cup game, 2 losses, 0-4 & 0-3.
If they lose, they will be the Top 6 team that falls away, after that it's deciding who's champions and who's getting playoff games at home.
