Final league Positions 2014/15

Post by Ginge01 » Wed Jan 21, 2015 6:34 am

A lot of people say it's our title to lose, we've got it.
I put together the remaining fixtures, there is no doubt that we cannot afford to lose at Salford or it may be over. Yes, that's right, I'm crazy. Take a look at the fixtures, the yet to be rearranged are at the bottom and included. I predict a result for every game so it's open to opinion. Or go straight to the bottom and find out who I will have champions by a very narrow margin, and then tell me where I'm wrong. I feel I've been kind to us, and possibly a little tough on Northwich, and not rating anyone else outside the top 3 but Farsley.

Enjoy

We make it as champions but a lose at Salford and we have to win somewhere else or draw at Farsley. I don't see Salford losing anywhere, their fixtures as very easy for the most part, and 1-0 away wins is all they need.

Any thoughts??

Northwich will not end up higher than spennymoor, spennymoor have played them twice and won both, in fact we were so superior to them, i also think farsley will end up higher than northwich, also spennymoor have 4 games in hand on northwich and salford, 3 at home and 1 away, over both of them, whats your prediction if spennymoor wins the 4 games in hand, it would put spennymoor 2nd :D

There is just too many games and too many holes in predictions. We could come unstuck away at a Burscough again (or Salford could) which would mess everything up.

The tell tale story is your top 9 teams versus table in the other thread. Salford have pretty much played everyone twice and top that table, it goes without saying we need to beat the teams around us.

The teams I don't worry about are Spennymoor and Scarborough, why? because we beat them twice - we are better than them. They will lose points as many times as us against lesser teams, but we beat them twice so they are 6 points a drift at least.

We haven't picked up any points this season against Droylsden, Salford or Northwich Vics yet. Only 1 points against Farsley as well. We need to keep clocking up the points against the lower teams, but we can't underplay the games against the top sides and make out that we can drop points against them and it won't matter.

You've also predicted that there will only be two more defeats suffered out of the collective 50 games still to be played by the top three. Very, very unlikely don't you think?!

Pretty pointless trying to predict things from this far out.

I'd check your results for Sat 31st Ginge.

Sat Jan 31st

Salford........... Darlington... (h) 1pt...... Plyd 29..... Pts 60
Northwich....... Ossett Town.(a) 3pts.... Plyd 29..... Pts 59

Might have a bearing on your final table?

Trying to predict results, particularly in this division, is pointless.

Anyone can beat anyone - no-one would have thought Kendal and Harrogate RA would have stuffed Salford the way they did a couple of months back. And there weren't many who thought we'd drop points at home to Radcliffe.

Every week we see teams towards the bottom of the division taking points from promotion challengers.

Hilarious.

You're the clown who claims Spendymoor will finish higher up the table than Darlo, despite us playing twice in the league this season and Darlo winning both times.

It's just a bit of fun. But yes impossible to predict. At the moment, there isn't many teams I can see us dropping points to, but there are some really tough games, and can't see salford dropping much.

Can only concentrate on winning our games and not worrying about Salford. Presume Salford will win every game and if they don't then it's a bonus

But that's my point.

There have been and will be lots of surprise results. All of the sides chasing promotion will drop "silly" points to sides below them between now and May.

I'd be hugely surprised if anyone does a Curzon and ease to it without many stumbles.

That's why I wouldn't attempt what Ginge01 has done. But it's interesting nonetheless.

I know everyone does not like my updates on Saturday, so Darlogramps is right, skim past it.

I think some people (including one Salford fan) have felt the Top 9 teams thread interesting, to others, yes it's s***, so please 'skim past it' or don't open it up. I like doing it, I feel it shows we and Salford are the best teams, and Farsley is a sleeper team, who could make the playoff last two and possibly get promoted. In reality, the games on the pitch is all that matters.

The long list of results for the rest of the season shows that Salford have an easier fixture run from today to the end of the season.
2 of our 5 to be arranged games are home to Northwich and away to Farsley, I want to believe its six points, but we have to play the games.
The long list of fixtures and results for the top 3 teams, yes, silly points will be dropped, hopefully not by us. We can't afford to drop many. Going through that list, it worked out that Northwich feel away, and we won the league. But who cares that I did it, the games to be played are what matters but we are not going to walk it to a championship. I am concerned it's a reverse of two years ago, the tortoise and the hare, we moved along at a comfortable pace, Spennymoor were supposed to be the speedy hare who caught us. So getting the fixture backlog resolved and games won is the only way to make all Quakers fans happy.

After the Salford game, which is almost a must win for us, Salford have 4 relatively easy games for February, they still have to be played and won. As it stands, we will also play 4 February games, home to Ossett Town, at Harrogate, at Kendal, home to Bamber Bridge, a tougher month than Salford. So if we are perfect, we will still not be in first place, we will just be keeping up with Salford.
March is not easier for us compared to Salford, there is a free Saturday to get a game in, so it looks like we need improved weather, and hopefully 3 rearranged games fitted in during February and March to not have a crazy April of many fixtures. And we need to win 2 out of 3 with a draw or 3 out of 3 backlog games depending on who we face.
If we had not had this layoff from games, with the organization from Martin Gray, the performance on the players, I would feel sure that the form would have continued. Martin Gray's has done a fantastic job from late September to get the team from 9th into 1st place. Since Christmas day, Salford has retooled, as of yet, not put many of the new players in, and found their form beating Bamber Bridge and Farsley in the last two weeks. One goal wins both times but 6 points.

Nobody has to read my rubbish, but if you care a little about what's to come, you can see that it won't be until March before we realistically start narrowing the gap in points, unless Salford has another slide.
I will continue to babble every Saturday with my threads, please feel free to ignore them or skim past them, it makes me feel closer to the club, thinking about them, their chances for the season.

I don't comment on the Hartlepool threads, or other issues people get involved with, I didn't comment when we had the Northern League nonsense a few years ago, I don't have issues with any of them. I wish all teams well, all people who follow those teams well. I also wish they all take points off each other and we finish in 1st place every season, and keep getting promotions so that I can see the team play as part of the top 92 teams in England again. This seasons challenge is to improve on 2nd place or (already happened) improve as a team.
If it's 2nd place again, win two playoff games for promotion, hopefully at H.P.

If you made it this far, best wishes to everyone who follows Darlington F.C. Thanks

I don't think Salford is a must win game. A draw would be a good result.

I would be happy with a draw as well, But. I think if we won the game it would put a hell of a lot of pressure on Salford and the league would then be ours to lose

Thanks
Rambling horseshit yet again edward

We are doing just that.

Be even better to get some of these games in hand played and see the actual reflection on the table.

Everyone considers that Curzon walked it last season.

I remember being top by 1 point with them having 4 games in hand and stuff like that, not really much different to the position that we are now in.

Funny enough Curzon had the best defence last season and kept a lot of cleansheets also.

They let in 36 goals last season.
