Re: Hartlepool Utd
I had to laugh when listening to the BBC Tees commentary on Saturday's match - Ivan Ash referred to Hartlefool's centre-backs Bates and Austin as the "Blancmange brothers" such was their ineptitude!

I remember Ivan Ash, when he commentated on Darlo away matches, especially midweek one's. He'd spend most of the game talking about things not connected with football in general or specifically about Darlo, although very entertaining.

He was obviously auditioning for Test Match Special

South Yorkshire?.Reckon Chris Turner could be involved there,Sheffield lad isn't he?
Re: Hartlepool Utd
Jammy buggers....just when they were going down the plug hole looks they have found a group daft enough to buy the club and very likely put money in to strengthen the squad.
Distinct danger they might now avoid the drop.

Re: Hartlepool Utd
Ah man I was enjoying goings on before. I even saw talk of them rattling buckets to create a fans fund.
If this happens and they can get a couple of million out of the consortium they will survive. It only takes a few wins to get out of the relegation zone as everyone else will almost certainly be losing.
It will only take a little bit of money to get the players in who can get them a couple of wins as well, and if Turner is there with his contacts it should attract more experienced quality than what the Boro academy have given them.
There is a huge hole in the article, to the sum of £14million. Are IOR just going to take the losses or hold out for getting it back? They will need to decided whether they will get more from the consortium, or from cutting costs even further and pocketing the football league parachute payments.

IOR have just put Pools into administration with debts of £14 million.
It's got a nice ring to it, even if it's not true.

Re: Hartlepool Utd
Just a further update. And no im no pools fan, just bored at work and watching the news
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... epool.html
A quick look on the number and they are all jumping for joy, i understand why, but football fans will never learn, they have no clue as to this guys motives but welcome them with open arms. Seems Ronnie Moore is lined up to be the new boss, they could do worse in there current situation.

Re: Hartlepool Utd
New owners could be good, but they could be worse. Remember when Singh seemed like a good chairman?
Also, what happens to the ~£14m?
However, they've probably dropped lucky, will avoid relegation, and have another 10 years of being financed to a position well above their natural place!

As Quakerz said earlier the jammy gits will get out of their mess somehow won't they.
Re: Hartlepool Utd
Are boxing promoters ever interested in anything other than a quick buck?

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

He was very briefly involved at Scunnie but promises (to him, presumably) weren't kept and off he went again. Wonder what went on there?

Re: Hartlepool Utd
Look on the bright side, they will think they have been saved by the new messiah only to be dropped further in the shite when he gets bored and pulls all his cash out, where as IOR have been dropping them gently, we can then have a jolly good chortle - toot toot enjoy the ride.

Re: Hartlepool Utd
Interesting parallels with Raj Singh's takeover in the sense that bought a club when the odds were against staying up. Consequently got relegated which bollocksed up all the planning and more importantly the level of interest. Will be interesting to see what IOR ask for the club...

Indeed, you'd think they'd have learned something from a club just up the road. Smacks to me of the Houghton takeover.m62exile wrote:Interesting parallels with Raj Singh's takeover in the sense that bought a club when the odds were against staying up. IOR have been very good custodians and I think the Poolie types will soon be recounting that old mantra of: you don't know what you've got til it's gone...

New chairman, Peter Harris, seems to be based in Warwickshire and is a director of a nightclub. He appears to work for a company Phoebus Funding Solutions whose CEO is Steven Murrall. Steven Murrall was part of the Seebeck 87 consortium that briefly owned Swindon Town last year and ended up in court in a dispute over ownership of Swindon (they lost).
It'll be interesting to watch how events unfold over the coming months/years. I very much doubt that these owners will provide the financial stability that IOR did.

Re: Hartlepool Utd
I always find it odd (would be worried if I was a choker ) when a consortium of buyers come in from outside the area with no link to the club.... especially if they have a track record of buying or trying to buy other clubs in the past. It is not as though they are fans made good putting their money into a club they love.
Although in the chokers case there seems to be no benefit of a ground to sell as it is council owned or obvious assets to strip.
You can understand trying to buy Wednesday or even Swindon as least they have some potential for growth, advancement & have had some past success to build on.
Night Club owners & boxing promoters makes you wonder ? Perhaps with the price of precious metals they are after the contents of their" Trophy Cabinet " or just want to be associated with their gloried past...

Re: Hartlepool Utd
They don't sound the most secure of owners do they?
I see that the Takeawayers have gotten very excited about the change in owner. I can only assume that's because they thought they were definitely down and this gives them some hope of avoiding the trapdoor.

Re: Hartlepool Utd
That happened quick. Has anything actually been said about the £14million? The posters on the bunker seem to think it has been written off but I can't see evidence of that - all I can see is that the shareholding has been sold? Theoretically the debt could still be there, but maybe that is wishful thinking!
Either way I can't see them going down anymore, League Two is pretty easy to survive with a bit of money. They will survive this season and I wouldn't rule them out to be challenging for promotion next season either. Another period of bankrolling is here I think.
