Quakers target return to Darlo for start of next season
Full story in The Northern Echo here
Don't forget that you can register your skills on the B2D website if you'd like to pitch in and help with any work which might need doing in relation to the move. A few problems with the volunteer registration system came to light following the recent move of the B2D website to a new server, but things should be running ok now.
Apologies to anyone who may have experienced difficulties - the buck stops with yours truly on that one

Re: Quakers target return to Darlo for start of next season
I would expect that the Council has already been approached as to what would and would not most likely be approved and the plans will have been tempered to fit these proposals if necessary in order to avoid having to go back to the drawing board so to speak. Fingers crossed though lol.Sidarlo wrote:the news everyone wanted to hear.

Very positive. As above, I'd hope that the planners have already been on the ball in liaising with us and the rugby club on the application so that it's more of a formality than a drawn out campaign.

I'd like to think there is a clue about planning in the quote from Tony Stowe "There is a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes between the three parties - the rugby club, the football club and the council."fat tony wrote:Very positive. Council planners are aware and from what I understand when the plans go in the council planners should have no real surprises.

On any major planning application there are always prior discussions in order to smooth the path for a successful official planning application. It makes sense for all concerned parties
Re: Quakers target return to Darlo for start of next season
Council have been heavily involved with football and rugby club with their proposals, I wouldn't expect any problems with the planning application.

Terrific news and well timed in putting last weeks rumours well and truly to bed.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

A positive article and good to hear planning application is almost ready. The article doesn't mention funding though which is surely the biggest obstacle to returning to Darlo.

In the article it states they will be preparing the pitch for rugby and football. Was this always the case? I thought the rugby was going to be played on an adjoining pitch or have I misunderstood it.
Re: Quakers target return to Darlo for start of next season
The rugby club only play about 12 home matches a season, so the pitch should be able to take both clubs playing on it. Also, we can't really expect them to play on an adjoining pitch either, it's their home.

The rugby team will move to another pitch on weekends when fixtures clash.

Surely it'll be "our" home? Would still like to know the relationship between both clubs - are we still tenants?Quakerz wrote:The rugby club only play about 12 home matches a season, so the pitch should be able to take both clubs playing on it. Re: Quakers target return to Darlo for start of next season
Great news - I always thought moving mid season this season would be a bridge too far, these things tend to take a long time when you have lots of parties involved - roll on next season when I am only a 10 min walk from the new ground!
Final thought - wouldn't it be great if we could get promoted this season as well - a combination of promotion and moving back to Darlo will really be good for the town, supporters and club

I'd be feeling even more positive if the "artists impression" on the Homepage featured a football rather than a rugby pitch! But I accept it is a joint application and the rugby club are probably in the box seat?

Try this link then, it shows a football pitch! Hope the link works, never put one on before.bga wrote:I'd be feeling even more positive if the "artists impression" on the Homepage featured a football rather than a rugby pitch! Re: Quakers target return to Darlo for start of next season
I don't want to open a can of worms here but we sold a hybrid ticket for this season.
If anyone did buy them and has contacted the club, could you share the outcome so others know what it is. I am personally maybe hoping that a B2D donation is suggested as it was an extra £10/15 I think!?
