Our under 18's like the first team have been excluded from this competition for the past two years. They played very well against Gateshead in the last round winning a deserved 3 - 0 against a Gateshead side which were unbeaten in their league for two years. They did so well in fact a certain Mr Grey sang the teams plaudits after the game and put four of the lads in the squad for the trip to Radcliffe. They play passionate passing football and are an extremely good team with loads of depth and talent. Come along and support the future of this club. £2 and £1 on the gate.

Lost 2-1
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883
