Nathan Thomas v Pool
See our winger from last season Nathan Thomas scored v Pool for Plymouth. Almost chipped a 2nd which would have been a top goal. Funny in the short time he was with us didn't look up to it.
Michael Smith still doing well for himself also

Another one that MG brought in and persisted with but couldn't get to work in the setup, obviously has skills but not the correct one required to play for Darlo

I think people need to remember that we are part time and therefore Martin only has limited exposure to work with the squad. Nathan Thomas went to Plymouth on a full time contract where the coaching set up down there can work with him day in day out. It will make a massive difference.

Yep, nail on the head. Full time training, especially for the younger ex-premiership kids who have been used to it makes a massive difference

Don't think we have the patience, time or squad depth to give kids a chance. Let's face it players either hit the ground running or are largely moved on for us.
No reserve/u23 team basically means we can only send players out to other clubs but that is it, most clubs wouldn't want to pay wages for a player they are just trying to get ready for us.

Different world this part-time stuff!super_les_mcjannet wrote:Don't think we have the patience, time or squad depth to give kids a chance. Let's face it players either hit the ground running or are largely moved on for us.

Kids in academies may be getting 4-5 days of training per week, but older players that aren't quite right for our first team are a problem. When players switch to part-time training they could deteriorate, or not progress sufficiently with reduced coaching.
This could explain for the revolving door signings we have had with youngsters of late. Experienced part-timers have been our best signings.
Supplementary training, at say Gateshead, would probably be too expensive for Darlo and for compensating players for lost income. Regular practise games look to be the only practical way of supplementing training for improving those who dont respond to part-time training alone.

Why would Gateshead want to play host to training our players anyways?

Could soon be 3 ex Darlo at Pools in the near future if they up the offer.

Charlton have a sell on fee clause with Swindon which will in turn activate our % of any future sell on clause we had with Charlton - diminishing returns I know but better than nothing.Robbie Painter wrote:Why?divas wrote:Should be in for some more cash from Smith in January
