Let's get past Blyth first.

Can't say it gives me that much interest but that is mainly the fact we have a replay in place to get past before even thinking about the next game.

See what happens on Tuesday before I give this any thought or not.

It's nice to have a cup run but realistically what toll have 4 extra games already this season (after tues) already taken on us?!

And we still don't know what's happening with the Warrington game yet.

the way i see it is we got a 50/50 chance of going through against blyth in the replay, as its darlo make it 10/90 chance due to our ability to mess things up. I'm not actually worried that we could play skelmersdale, there'll be no pressure on us. Owt can happen, I'm sure they would have preferred another team to us!

Yep to true, am i right in think thinking this time last year we only had Brown out?

Currently on the injured list:
Downson
Purewal
White
Robinson possibly, certainly a bad gash to his leg.
Scott not fully fit

Fatty if you can't see where he's coming from then I'm afraid you are being daft, Divas makes a point about the injuries and the FIRST priority which is the league.

If we get through Blyth, then draw at Skelmersdale, it starts to become a lot of work and risk for little reward.

Yes it's nice to be in cups but they are generally useless distractions at this level and I'd prefer our paper thin squad to be fit and ready for Salford.

Here hold on a minute! I got fucking panned for posting during a cup game. Which way do the fucking "elite" want it?

Are they also going to donate the equivalent in prize money each season so we don't run the risk of injuries?

FFS! Theres more than him on chuffing glue!

So you'd prefer we missed out on promotion but had 10 cup games a season?

If that's the compromise then no thank you.

Wouldn't say you got "panned", and I wouldn't still be going on about it now if it was me.

Well the winner gets 3k plus the share of 2 half decent gates. Then whatever it is for the rounds after this. Not all bad.

10 FA cup games would bring us in a fortune that would set us up so yes i would take a ten game cup run and miss out on promotion. If the squad was good enough it would go up!

You missed my point. I posted during a cup game and got jumped on. Now "the elite" are saying we shouldn't be in the cup. Which way do you lot want it? Is the FA cup important or not!

I hope to fucking god none of you lot are involved in the running of the club!

The problem with that argument is that you've just pulled this "compromise" out of your arse.

There becomes a point where a lucrative cup run would benefit us more than promotion.

Burton are at least a division better off in the long run (probably more) due to cup runs in the last decade.

While its a very unlikely scenario, a third round tie against a big club would probably aid a return to conference national level more than promotion this season.

A mind-blowing cup run could potentially pay the full costs of moving back to Darlington if we pick up a televised game, or two.

We have to get past Blyth first which won't be easy, shame about that penalty miss on Saturday. If we do get through to play Skem I am not that worried.

I have seen Skem play twice, losing 3-0 at home to Witton Albion and a 1-1 draw against Halesowen. They aren't that great, attack their left back (who is clearly a midfielder being deployed at FB and you will have some joy).

Well I said 10 cup games, not 10 FA cup games, no fortune guaranteed at all and the damage of the club not getting promotion this season and the potential loss of fans will cost the club yet again.

I was trying to highlight how thin the squad is and the advantage of focusing 100% on the league. Fatty is trying to highlight just how everyone is against him.

As you say darloontheup the compromise is not guaranteed and you can be out the cups and be nowhere near promotion. Injuries are already an issue for me this season with lack of suitable strength coming off the bench.

There are too many games before we'll get anywhere near a lucrative tie.

It's a tough one but all i think we can do is take each game as it comes, for the last two years people have been crying out for us to be back in the FA Cup, with the potential financial gains and now we are in people are kicking off straight away.

Hard to please people

Exactly. Those complaining about being in the cup are those who complained when we weren't in it.

I know it doesn't matter now, but we only have ourselves to blame in both ties so far, West Away and Blyth on Saturday both should have been won at the first attempt with the chances we have had

Quite a regular occurrence of late really, Buxton last season was a prime example of throwing away a great opportunity to progress in a cup competition.
