Don't know if anyone has seen this, mentions Darlo but it's by a reporter who is constantly on Salford's back and trying to discredit them anyway they can.
Seems like it's a weekly tirade.

Funny to see Salford trotting out the "we're not buying the league, our budget is smaller than other clubs" line.
That's why they can afford Conference 1st teamers and former Football League players.
Borders on the hilarious.

Re: Salford City v Daily Mail Reporter
So the story talks about people alleging that Danny Webber is on £800 a week? Salford say that he is on around half of that (400 notes a week!) and that Warrington and Darlo have bigger budgets.
I would bet my house that we have nobody on more than 400 quid a week, the numbers just wouldn't stack up.

If anyone was on 400 a week they would not need to have another job

Don't know, we've attracted the HITMAN, and others from higher levels (not to quite the same extent).Darlogramps wrote:Funny to see Salford trotting out the "we're not buying the league, our budget is smaller than other clubs" line.

Salford are probably the only club at this level with the same kind of draw we have for players less bothered about the money, because of the Man Utd connection. I can believe they're attracting better players than others would for the money.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

It happens at every club though. Forest Green, Crawley, Fleetwood to name a few examples where, despite signing players from much higher reaches, have insisted it's not down to money and they don't have a large budget.Spyman wrote:Don't know, we've attracted the HITMAN, and others from higher levels (not to quite the same extent).Darlogramps wrote:Funny to see Salford trotting out the "we're not buying the league, our budget is smaller than other clubs" line.

The reason for the denial is obvious - they don't want potential signings holding out for much more if they think the club has a lot of money behind them.
The prestige, possibly. But they are still signing players who were professional, or have played Football League/Conference. Money definitely plays a part in it.
