Warrington Excuses
Re: Warrington Excuses
Btw for what it's worth whilst we wait. I have been advised that the rule that is in place now (re forfeited game) were done so as a result of the Frank Sinclair/Colwyn Bay incident. Effectively to rule out a replay being the outcome in the future.

Whilst we wait, here is a seven line poem for the enjoyment of Darlogramps!
My Warrington abandoned match ticket
Sits useless high up on a shelf
Cowards light falls from it's yellowness
On to Warrington Town F.C's manageress
Who threw in the towel meekly weakly
Stating "we'll be back late for tea - this can't be"
"Health and Safety"

That was an FA Cup game was it not?
The considerations re a replay are very different in a cup game as only 2 sides are affected by the outcome.
In a league game, the rest of the division is affected.
Re: Warrington Excuses
Regardless. I was advised the rule didn't exist in league handbooks until after that incident. It was because of that game in the FA cup that the rule was put in place for the leagues.
If they can prove forfeit the outcome will not be replay. It will be our points according to the new rules.
The question is proving forfeit. Sinclair admitted it was coz of referee, Reid claimed health & safety. If they can rule out the health and safety excuse there can only be one outcome.

You're right. So Warrington should receive even harsher punishment to reflect this.spen666 wrote:lo36789 wrote:Btw for what it's worth whilst we wait. Was there not a 15 minute break away to Droylsden when the players were taken off the pitch. Could we not have said we were not coming back out for the same reason as Warrington?

Too right. Football (and sport in general) has a strong positive attitude/we'll give it our best shot, way of thinking. Droylesden turning things around just proves what can be done.TSQuaker wrote:Maybe, but we're not a bunch of scaredy catsTS3 wrote:Was there not a 15 minute break away to Droylsden when the players were taken off the pitch. Warrington's actions were a disgrace and I hope their punishment fits the crime.
But why are we waiting so long?

I can't help believe the more this is stalled, that if there is a reply, it's gonna more likely mess with our season.
Thought there would be a decision, or at least information about it.

Justice has been done, thankfully the league came to that decision.
We shoot up to sixth in the league and suddenly a win tomorrow would leave things quite rosy!

Re: Warrington Excuses
I don't think it could be called justice...They have only been fined £1500 of which £500 is suspended...That makes it only a £1000 fine.
The result stands but we would have got more goals in that game (my opinion), I thought they would get at least a 3 point deduction as that would send a message out.

Re: Warrington Excuses
The fine is an issue for the league and Warrington to worry about.
All I'm concerned with is that we got the three points, which was the right decision.
Perhaps all the squawkers on here who branded the league "unacceptable" and "a joke" for taking time about their decision will reconsider after this.
This whole episode shows that all is required is patience. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Will have to comfort myself with the bonus to the Sponsor a Goal scheme, 2 scored, a clean sheet, a win, 2 extra goal difference.
It's not too late to join the scheme. Can start from the Warrington match, or the Salford one.
Pledges so far range from 25p to £5 on any of the above.
To pinch an ad phrase "every little helps"

Re: Warrington Excuses
Brilliant that we are given the three points but they should definetely have had three deducted. As it stands all they are set to lose is a grand in fines as the likelihood of them getting anything from the game when it was abandoned was only minimal.
Then of course what about everyone that was short changed on the day with both season ticket holders and pay on the day losing out. I personally think they have taken the easy option after discussions with Warrington and the severity of their punishment as they did not want it dragging out any longer if an appeal was to be forthcoming.

Re: Warrington Excuses
Shame for the fans who only saw half a game but I'm sure 99.9% of them would prefer 3 points than free entry to a re-arranged game that we might not win.
Warrington have got off lightly as there are no expenses to pay to Darlo for the cost of staging the game if it was declared void. The 3 points is the easiest and of course correct decision for all involved.

Justice done.
However, what happens if by some weird twist of fate we miss out on promotion by goal difference. We were all set to hammer them.
Not that I'm complaining. I think the league have done the right thing, and sends a very strong message to every other club.

Well at least those who were "short changed" on the day can now look back at a win rather than an abandonment.marty wrote:Brilliant that we are given the three points but they should definetely have had three deducted. To be honest, we got the deserved 3 points and the result to stand - which looking at past precedents seemed unlikely. This also prevented Warrington from getting away with it, cheating their way out of defeat, and having a chance to try again for 3 points in a match that they were doomed to lose - and you know what our luck is like, right? We'd probably lose the rematch.
We got the 3 points and that is all that matters is us - I could not give a bollock about what punishment Warrington and their jug lugged monkey boy manager got or didn't get - they are too insignificant too pay any attention to.

Re: Warrington Excuses
In my opinion the right decision was made in relation to us ,however Warrington Town management must be having a little private chuckle - as they haven't really been punished at all for their skulduggery.
