Players Professions

Post by dickdarlington » Thu Aug 28, 2014 11:40 am

Was thinking about this a bit last night. Do we know what the players full time jobs are? And do any of them have their own businesses? I'm fairly certain Gary Brown does. If so, as part of their contracts should the club be offering free advertising be it in the programme or on an advertising hoarding. Likewise, could this be offered out to our volunteers?

I know in the good old days that Stuart Pearce used to advertise in the Coventry City match programme, even though he had turned pro by that point.

We already pay them a decent amount to play for us. Unless they took a cut in salary for the advertisement I don't see why we should lose out on income for them!

Our players use the fact they are followed to advertise anyway.

I was thinking more along the lines of reducing wages rather than adding more on top.

If we're going to get into the first round proper of the FA Cup and meet a league team, one of them will need to be a postman.

I think I heard that Adam Mitchell was a postie last year? I don't know if that was accurate or if he is doing it now? I think we are missing a school teacher.

That'll be Graeme Armstrong

Yeah. Armstrong's definitely a PE teacher. There was something on the SAFC website about one of their players playing against their former teacher in the friendly.

I have often wondered whether it is some unwritten FA Cup rule that all semi-pro team has to have at least a postman, there also seems to the odd binman, teacher and bricklayer and plumber, although I have never noticed a great deal of them, the odd Policeman as well

Policeman quota is usually taken up by the match officials! Gary Brown is our plumber. Not sure if we have a bricklayer though?

When White is not an attack dog he is a fitness instructor @ Scotch corner Gym ain't he?

Thommo works in production on shifts i think.

There's also always a welder, a butcher, a van driver and an insurance salesman.

Oh aye, forgot about them, although these days they relax there rules on who can play for them...but I guess serving policemen will still make up the majority of the team
