One of the aspects which the Council will look at when considering the planning application will be the effect on the highway - extra traffic generated, where fans will park etc. As such it can put conditions on relating to parking etc. Therefore, just because the FA isn't bothered whether or not we have a car park, it doesn't mean that the Council won't want it in place before the ground is up and running.lo36789 wrote:Please do explain what will take 18months?cameron-darlo wrote:Anyone expecting us to be There this season needs to get real. Re-erecting Tin Shed Roof -
Fitting portakabin changing facilities -
Hardstanding -
I think that is all that needs to be in place to actually move back according to the FA rules. The car park/end terrace are things that can be developed.
Beyond admin I'd be suprised if the actual work couldn't be completed in a month.

Re: Blackwell meadows ????
As we know, the council just loves making parking awkward for football fans whereas rugby fans can park for free wherever they like.aveda wrote:One of the aspects which the Council will look at when considering the planning application will be the effect on the highway - extra traffic generated, where fans will park etc. There should be no stipulations put on the football club that hasnt been enforced on Mowden rugby club.
Re: Blackwell meadows ????
Do all clubs have a car park? I don't know if that is the case? I would have thought parking enforcement to make sure people aren't doing anything stupid would cover for a period of time.
Just a thought, more people attend the fireworks in South Park than come to Darlington matches.

Re: Blackwell meadows ????
Is that needed immediately though? I keep going back to grounds I have been to this season. AFC Fylde have 4 portacabins. They don't even have a club house. The players and officials gather in an area behind a fence before the game.super_les_mcjannet wrote:The changes to the clubhouse, with a front door entrance for players etc could well be the main things that takes the longest time. The rest as you say are not the biggest stumbling blocks.
Ramsbottom I think had a portacabin as well and the players just sort of spill out on to the pitch and a metal fence panel is manually put into place by a steward beforehand.
That sort of stuff seems more than the minimum requirement which surely is the first aim - especially if it won't have big sunk costs.

Return home "unlikely before Christmas"
Story - this morning on the Echo website. I'd put a link up but don't know how.
It could well be near the end of the season, if it all in my view.

As long as we can see progression, then no issue with Bishop this season and BM launch next summer. It will happen of that I am confident so the news was no surprise or issue this morning.

Re: Blackwell meadows ????
No promises have ever been made regarding our move home. I don't think anyone really expected that we'd be back in Darlington by Christmas.
Re: Blackwell meadows ????
No it hasn't always been said, the Christmas thing came about when Martin Gray appeared on late kick off and upon being asked when Darlo would be coming home his reply was hopefully by Christmas.Darlo Till I Die wrote:That's always been said.,. Re: Blackwell meadows ????
Just seen this about Nene Park (R&DFC) being demolished. It was a really tidy little ground, and was still being maintained. What chance we can liberate some crush barriers/seats/fixtures and fittings for Blackwell?

Re: Blackwell meadows ????
There'll be an update when there's something to update us on.
I'm astounded how many people on this board can't be patient and make crap up to fill in the gaps.

Re: Blackwell meadows ????
All i was stating from what i recalled from the last meeting, was that it was an issue regarding the car park and being given the go ahead with it? Presumed the council was the only potential party stopping it?
Don't really find it that amazing that people want updates on the main project that is going on with our club this season? I will happily go to Bishop for as long as we are there, however considering the hope is we will back sometime this season, ie with the season ticket prices including BM matches??
As stated it doesn't bother me when we get back, but how much emphasis has been placed on getting back, i can't see it being this season.

We all would like an update, but if there's nothing to update on, then you'll have to be patient. It's not a difficult concept.Sidarlo wrote:All i was stating from what i recalled from the last meeting, was that it was an issue regarding the car park and being given the go ahead with it? DBC and car parking. This won't be pretty.
For you to insult me, I must first value your opinion.

Re: Blackwell meadows ????
Part of the delay is DBC Workload. Look around Darlington, they are knocking it down and re building. Only yesterday they announced the new start date for the Feethams complex. All of this takes up time and resources, also timescales are important for some of these projects as they have government funding which if not actioned are lost.
We will be updated when as said there is something to report
