Northallerton tonight

Post by JPearson97 » Tue Jul 15, 2014 8:21 pm

Won 5-0, goals from Armstrong x2, Purewal, Portas and Hatch.

Sounds as if Galbraith played in the middle with Portas and another trialist?

Goals for all the new signings which is pleasing.

Was very much an improvement on Saturday, but there's progress that can be made.

Looking forward to Saturday's game now.

Sounds like a good result, good for the new lads to be scoring goals, but most important thing is the lads playing and more importantly playing together. hopefully will lead to a strong start to the season.

Was the game filmed in the end? just wondering if there will be any highlights for those like myself who couldn't make it tonight?

The missing players are hunter at centre half and armstrong at no 8. Dont know where he has come from. Quite impressed with his composure and trying to play Graeme Armstrong in.

Much better performance than on Saturday.

Extremely impressed with Greame Armstrong. He will get goals for us

first half we were superb passing the ball quickly and playing as a team. Second half I thought we lost the plot a bit and our shape. Too many individual cameos and some fairly sloppy passing.

The blonde lad in midfield (Portas) looks like a proper player. I'd be interested to know if he has ever been on a league club's books. Armstrong also in midfield looked very assured on the ball. The other Armstrong worked pretty hard but he is quite thick set so I guess these friendlies will be doing him the world of good in terms of fitness. Took his chance really well. Also worth a word for Gary Brown at full back - much more skill than people give him credit for.

Portas was a proper player, captained by proper captain Gary Brown, with Martin Gray, a proper manager, in charge of a proper club watched by proper fans at a proper ground enjoying proper football.

"Proper", like the word "baller", should be banished from describing anything in football, as it doesn't actually mean anything.

At the top level it is probably pretty meaningless. At grassroots level it means everything.

No, it's still a meaningless phrase used by people who can't think up an intelligent description.
