Agreed, at 80 mins it was bad for Ramsbottom going behind 2-1, they will be tough but today we dealt with a top team nicely, so we can do it again in the playoff with however comes to Heritage Park.

Two promotions in two years, let's get it done

Glad we got such a good result today, thought it was really important psychologically to go into the play-offs with a good win against a top-end side under our belts. Was it the 4-3-1-2 today then? That definitely seems to be our best bet at the moment, plays to our strengths and everybody understands their job. Would rather not play Rammy, but I think we're coming into form again just now, getting some big players back, and will be much more competitive than on previous occasions if they do end up as our opponents. Exciting stuff!

Started 4-3-1-2 but changed just before half time to a flat 4-4-2 and looked much better after the break with the introduction of Mitchell for Davis.

I suppose we have the option to adapt depending on how our midfield is performing, then. Definitely don't think the three at the back will work against a better team, having seen how we were opened up at times by Radcliffe, who managed to do so despite being pretty rubbish overall.

Yep 4-3-1-2 and switched to 4-4-2, which I think is exactly how we will play in the playoffs. Strong and very compact in the first half getting us into the game and then open it up if needed second half. This basically won the big game left of the season today, so no reason to think Gray will do anything different.

The back 4 were excellent today, soaking a lot of pressure in the first half especially. The balance looked better when we went to 4-4-2, not that Davis had a bad game, just it opened a lot more space for Thomo to run into. Have to say the game was so much better with an opposition that played to win rather than sitting 10 men behind the ball.

Sort of illustrates why most of them don't bother, though.

Really pleased with the result, anyway. Farsley were excellent when we played them down there - albeit our defence was very much a work in progress that day and we missed a pen - so to win so comprehensively leaves me feeling quite good about the play-offs.

1st half was tough but 2nd half we played so much better, still think we must start with Dowson.

The CB's and Walker were excellent today, Tait and Hunter lost virtually nothing all game, our best pair of CB's?

Sorry, but I don't get this dread of Ramsbottom. So what, they have beaten us twice but we have improved massively since the 1.0 at HP when we had a weak midfield that included the dreadfull Edwards and we were going through our rough patch.Bring them on,IF they make make the play offs.

The evostick website, the twitter feeds from both clubs and the Northern Echo...safe to say it was 3-2 to Ramsbottom

Quick report from today

Pretty much echo the comments above, much better second half but good that we have options if one formation isnt working.
Impressed with Mitchell again when he came on

I think Ramsbottom will be in the playoffs and that our season will be decided by how we get on against them. We are better than when we played them and they did the double over us but they would provide a massive test. They have two players who've scored over 50 goals between them and the left winger Phil Dean (one of the two) is a player who tortured us in both the games. We never got to grips with him and he scores loads and creates loads. We'd have to have a better game plan this time around. But we've also got the firepower to give them plenty to worry about.
