Darlington FC V Radcliffe Borough

Post by poppyfield » Sat Apr 05, 2014 10:11 am

We should win today, but, these games against teams struggling at the bottom of the table can be tricky. I will go for a 3 - 1 win, a crowd of 1100 and a team of
Bell
Tait Brown Hunter Walker
Mitchell Scott Galbraith Thomson
Ward Fisher
A formation 1 3 4 1 2

Very quiet on the forum today, game on shoutcast, new partnership of Ian Ward and Nathan Fisher with a goal each, nice to have a bench of Amarl Purewal, David Dowson and Alan White.

Nobody from official Bamber Bridge or Northwich Victoria accounts tweeting, found other tweets for the 1-1 score.

HT' Curzon Ashton 3-0 Prescot Cables. Darlington are 2-0 up so not looking likely for the championship until Monday. #EvoStikNPL

Yes, you're going to win the league but we will make you earn it, we're not giving up, we have to keep Warrington behind us by winning games.

Keep it up lads, we want 2nd place and home playoff games, Martin Gray should make them wear pink shirts, our away record is a lot better
Probably won't happen.

First half winners
Curzon 3-0
Darlington 2-0
Warrington 3-0
Ramsbottom 3-0
Farsley 2-0 away

Losers
Bamber Bridge 1-1 Northwich Victoria

Biggest Loser
Lancaster 0-2 to Farsley, last week lost to Bamber Bridge at home 0-2. Slipped back to 7th but season not over.

Just got back good 3 points, but for me not our best performance, this 3 at the back system makes us look far to vulnerable, a better team than Radcliffe would of punised us, even they caused us a few problems.MoM for me was Hunter, at times he 1 player doing 2 mans jobs.We need a game plan for the playoffs and 1 3 4 1 2 is not it.

Thought Fisher & Dowson played very well, Ward for me is the missing link up front for us that we really could have done with all season.

Some sloppy defending not helped by a sticky pitch but Radcliffe were fairly well organised considering their league place.

Spot on Poppyfield. Agree completely. Need four at the back. It's tough because we look better with the shape going forward. Brown is no midfielder. As good as he is at this level at the back, he loses his bearings a bit and ends up looking like a jack Russell chasing rabbits in his current position. I'd swap him and Tait round if we're needing to fit in.

Ward does give us that extra dimension and as I've said before. Fisher feeds off him well. There's a potentially leathal little and large partnership there. But let's not tAke anything away from Amar or Dows. Both looked sharper today coming off the bench than they have in months. Hopefully we can get them all refreshed and ready to go for playoffs.

My personal preference of formation would be to play a diamond with Leon as the defensive midfield and then Mitchell, Thommo and Hopson swapping around.

Amar I agree with, but Dowson has been our best forward all season and doesn't deserve a spell on the bench.

Thought Scott and Brown had shockers we never won any second balls played no football one of the worst games I`ve seen football wise in a long time
Saying that it`s the win and three points that matter at this stage of the season.

we played so much better with 4-4-2. Hated the initial formation again. Someone previously mentioned vulnerable and was spot on.

We still have the same problem that we have all season. We've chopped and changed keepers, defenders, strikers, wingers but ultimately we have not been good enough in centre mid.

Dowson terrorised them with his running, and I agree with loan_star that he's been our best forward this season - first name on the team sheet for me.

Ward and Fisher both played well, Ward is fucking massive for a footballer - got to be 6'4 and 16 clem at least.

Not saying Dowson deserves to be in the bench. I can't fault what he brings to the side. Or the effort he puts in. He has looked tired though. Probably since he tweaked his hamstring. But today he looked sharp again. Focussed. He was a real threat once more. Maybe it was as much as proving a point to Gray.
