Exciting news to come out this weekend related to the financial investment opportunity according to Martin Gray.

See this video interview with MG, from 6.30 approx (whole interview is whole a watch actually).

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere in one of the Back to Darlo or Square Knot threads that the question was asked if the owner of the Square Knot pitch could invest himself? Maybe such owner has made a considerable investment of his own?

Any of the following would be 'exciting' for me.

a) A number of new investors recently which will be announced/paraded!?
b) The club stump up money into B2D (which means that the £20k has been hit - that is classed as an investment opportunity after all!)
c) There is a new promotion available to individual investors to get us over the line (5 year season ticket for a £1k investment or something similar!?)
d) The 3 opportunities have hit £50k (we don't know what is in the regular reward scheme that isn't on Squareknot after all).

Anyway all will be revealed soon enough.

I think people need to stop fantasising about big investors, such as the founder of Squareknot - why would he invest in some little club that he probably hadn't heard of, and will get no return on?

I don't know what the exciting news is that Gray refers to but I doubt it is about big investors magicing us a load of money...my guess would be that progress has been made between the football and rugby clubs in agreeing the groundshare and the deal is now good to go...if we can raise the money.

It wasn't the owner of Squareknot it's the owner of the pitch.

Theoretically DFC 1883 Ltd are entitled to invest money in their own pitch. If that is the plan to free up the money pledged I wouldn't really class it as particularly exciting news!

Aye it'd be a right wankfest if we made the £50K by putting 40% up ourselves.

Right now 35K released by whatever means (providing legal) for the club to use appropriately is massive for our ambitions.
Put that capital with the recent Dan Burn cash injection, Michael Smith if anything, and we could be on our way.
Lets wait and see what breaks.

I'd guess from watching the video it might be incentives for people to invest

That is what I am expecting interesting timing as people are getting paid...

My take on this "waiting for pay day" is, if you have to wait untill pay day to invest then you might be able to afford say 100 or 200 quid not the 500 or 1000 mark, so i expect to see a good jump in the B2D fund not the other pitches over the weekend.

Poppyfield: Agree with that. In particular for the investment scheme as no money up front, only pledged at this stage

As for increased incentives on the 2 main square knot schemes, would this not cause a problem with those who have already pledged.

1000/1 outside shot... maybe the Cricket Club are going to invest? They have to put all that money they made back into sport, and Brian Johnson did say that they'd consider investing in a community scheme.

Edit - they have the money, it all depends if the investment makes commercial sense to BJ. If so, then why not approach them and try to convince them to put something in?

Maybe Gray has had the heads up that Dan Burn is going to sign for Man City for £5million  Fulham are sniffing around signing a left sided defender so here's hoping :D

A good investment or sponsorship input from a big local company would be the dream. I just hope we aren't unveiling Billy Bubbles tomorrow...

It's more likely to be something on the 'community club' angle, I'd suggest .. A sense of togetherness is the key ....

Haven't seen the video so forgive me, but is it nothing to do with the announcement about MG's football academy now being based at Eastbourne school and how Shay Given is going to do the official opening etc... etc...

The question asked by the interviewer was " the club is at the moment apealing for investment, how important is that for the club" MG went on to say, very important ......should be something comming out in the press this weekend......which should be exciteing news......
So i can only assume its about someone or a business investing in the club.
