I find it remarkable that anyone thinks we won't win this league.

yup. I find it hard to say we are going to piss a league if I don't know jack about it.Quakerz wrote:Who, me?
If it's the same people who were saying we would be lucky to finish in the top half that are saying that the standard is worse, then I'm skeptical, but hopeful

The fans of the Northern League were apparently experts on their own league last season yet they all managed to get it horribly wrong.D_F_C wrote:yup. I find it hard to say we are going to piss a league if I don't know jack about it.Quakerz wrote:Who, me?

exactly. Re: 2013/14 Darlo Predictions
According to the NL know alls, the NL is as good as the Evostik.
Therefore, we should smash it, and it should not be in doubt.
However, the NL know alls will obviously be wrong, as always - and without any of us knowing about the Evo, one thing we can be sure of is this - a step 4 league will be better than a step 5 one!
That said, we were so far above NL standard last season that we should be able to win the next one up too, I'll be surprised if we don't.
And anyway, should we fail to win it there's always the play offs so the pressure is off, let's all just enjoy it.

By the same logic, you should find it hard to predict us to finish 5th, or 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th etc. for that matter.D_F_C wrote:yup. I find it hard to say we are going to piss a league if I don't know jack about it.Quakerz wrote:Who, me?

Re: 2013/14 Darlo Predictions
I don't really have much to base this prediction on and can't remember all the teams we're playing let alone know what they're like. I suppose Chester spanked this league in their first season a few years back having only found out they'd play there in mid-June. It wasn't the full-service steamrollering that we served up last season, and they got pushed all the way by Skelmersdale, but enough to give me a bit of confidence.

Re: 2013/14 Darlo Predictions
Just looking at the betting odds and I think most people agree with Quakerz. One company has actually suspended our odds and only offer all the other teamsQuakerz wrote:I find it remarkable that anyone thinks we won't win this league.
Seems Saturday's opponents Warrington are well fancied third favourites (12/1) behind Curzon Ashton (8/1) ..... Best you can get on Darlo is 6/4 which is ridiculous before a ball has been kicked .... We'll know more after Saturday, no doubt, but Quakerz is spot on in my eyes.

Re: 2013/14 Darlo Predictions
the view from the evostik thread is we'll win with no trouble. http://nonleaguezone.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=100714Quakerz wrote:According to the NL know alls, the NL is as good as the Evostik.
one interesting post from forester which I agree with
"Most other clubs, particularly ones in and around the Stockport and Manchester conurbations have many other teams at the same level or the one above (over 20 within about 45 minutes or less from the middle of Manchester) vying for the same pool of players and also for the Mancs area teams, there are MUFC, MCFC, Liverpool, Everton, Blackburn, Bolton, Wigan, Rochdale etc. etc. whereas Darlington have Whitby, Blyth and in exceptional cases Gateshead dipping into the same player pool and are only competing against Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesborough (and maybe Yark for the masochists) for supporters.
Even given Darlington's current League status, they are still in all ways somewhere in the top six clubs in the North East region. while most of the North West based Division One teams wouldn't even make the top thirty North West Clubs.
The title is Darlington's to lose"
