No more match updates for now

Post by quakersam » Sat Aug 03, 2013 3:29 pm

3rd time I've been kicked off due to the clowns in charge of social media. Possessive over nothing. Don't even have the decency to tell me either. Well done the club, want them doing in the future? Get fucked!

This can't be right, quakersam criticising something to do with the running of the club!

I'm also interested in who now does the tweets from the official Darlo account on a non match day, been meaning to ask for a while.

Where's Divas comment gone?

Absolute dross he said! I haven't noticed any different

I don't understand how you can be kicked off? Or the reasoning behind such a cruel act?!

He named the person currently running the Official_Darlo Twitter account, but they would prefer to remain anonymous. Therefore his post was deleted.

Prefer to remain anon. yet run a social media account of a football club?

Question remains, if QS has been booted, why no explanation or communication?

More censorship...

If anyone wishes to know who it is feel free to contact me

Shame this site has come to this....

Thought a fan owned club was about openness, not concealing who is running the social media channels.

No, why do they want to remain anonymous? Seems very odd when they are a public voice of our club.

I'm fairly certain that being a fan owned club ISN'T about violating a person's right to do their volunteering in private if they choose to do so. Please respect that.

Perhaps they've seen how people who poke their head above the parapet and become known publicly are generally treated on here half the time?

I would prefer to appreciate the fact they have chosen to volunteer instead of questioning the reasons why they would prefer to do so privately.

Hmmm - don't agree. In all the time that Darlo have had an official twitter account I've not seen anyone throwing personal abuse their way. Anyway I've not seen the people who do a good job like Dave Mills, James Charlton, the fund raising group, etc, etc come in for criticism. It's only where we think things could be done better that people comment.

Its a public role. They are representing the club. Seems very odd to want to try and remain anonymous.

I don't know who to ask to be honest, it happened twice during last season too and didn't get a reason then either, bit of a joke really. They love a bit of control, just seems to go to their heads

Agree with Robbie. If people are allowed to remain anonymous, it leads to a lack of accountability, meaning they can do things like booting volunteers off the club's Twitter account without explanation.

And as Robbie said, fans don't give out personal abuse for the hell of it, despite what some are trying to make out.

People tend to comment when they don't agree with something, and most of the time, the disagreements are perfectly civil. Only on the odd occasion do they become abusive.

What do you mean by being booted off? Changed the password or something?

Someone is in overall charge and can add/delete people as they wish. Same thing happened with me and Luke Fawcett before, no reasons given

I was randomly blocked on twitter from the official_darlo account a couple of weeks ago. I contacted Laura as I wasn't best pleased and she looked into it for me. She confirmed I was blocked, got me unblocked but she doesnt know who did it and why. I just found it odd as I don't personally know the people that run it now. I manage social media for a living, it's just not good practice to go round blocking people for no reason.

Ps. Sam, the same happened to me, I was just removed without warning and I was the one who got the accounts back from M Walker and ran them!

It's a shambles really. As Sam has said, I got removed not so long ago with no reasons given... I have not been removed this time though?

This!

I really do appreciate the work all the volunteers do but 'some' of them really do need to get up off their high horses.

Very odd indeed. That's gratitude for you.

You do a top job Sam, not only with helping out with Twitter but Match reports when needed. Credit to you for putting up with it.

If she is so possessive with the Official Darlo Account maybe going with the Darlo Match Account is the way- official or unofficially. Thats if you don't just want to sack it all off mind.
For you to insult me, I must first value your opinion.

Seemingly user access is not just a problem for large corporations...

In my book the official darlo account needs 4 users. Home match days, Away match, commercial information and general secretarial stuff.

The only reason it's 4 and not 3 is because we have different people doing the matches depending on venue. Why does anybody else need access? They should only be tweeting stuff relevant to their area.

Info about events done by other parties eg fundraising falls under secretarial. Admin rights belong to a director of DFC.

Is that too simplistic?
