Fixtures out 9am on Wednesday 17th July

Post by super_les_mcjannet » Mon Jul 15, 2013 7:23 pm

Opening day of the season on the 17th August as we are unlikely to be at home (Bishop have FA Cup game) then anyone have any favourites to head away to.

I quite fancy one of the long distance ones to get them out of the way in hopefully good weather, so anywhere Manchester/Liverpool will do for me.

Anyone got somewhere they would prefer on opening day?

I am hoping for Lancaster away, be a decent shout and not to far from Blackpool. Make a weekend of it.

Will we definitely be drawn away in the first fixture because of Bish being in cup action, or could the league simply suggest we play on the Friday or the Sunday if we're at home? I mean the Premiership doesn't have all the opening games on the same day at the same time does it?

I think a Sunday Midday kick off would be great

Doubt we'd do it but a Friday night opener would be close to a sell out I reckon. Remember we did very well in the Dunston home Friday night game last season.

Wrong Ossett. We play Albion in the league, then Town in the Trophy.

That'll confuse a few - remember Darlo Pete's exploits at Sunderland RCA : viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23609

FA Comps take priority. I wonder if we can swap the fixtures around with Warrington. Seems wrong to have a bye on the first weekend. However if it's away, I can't make it.

Disappointed about Curzon Ashton being on a Monday night. Really odd one that. Unless it's on Sky. LOL.

Missing two home games due to stag and wedding, but hey ho.

Christmas is looking good this season, two homes and then away to Kendal.

Last three games of the season could work out well if we're looking to seal the deal. Two home games, and an away at Wakefield who have a proper ground (share with Trinity) so we could have a big following.

Anyone know why there are big gaps on certain Saturdays. Can understand the ones early on, but there is a free week in Feb, and another in March.

Bring it on.

Just looked at our fixtures & Bishop Auckland's.

There are NINE home Saturday games which clash with BA's home games.

Aug 17, Nov 9 & 23, Jan 4 & 25, Feb 8, Mar 8, Apr 5 & 26.

Saved me a job there, just started to have a look myself after seeing the first day clash - looks like they've neglected to take into account we're ground sharing. Most of those Saturday's will have to become Friday or Sunday i guess which is a shame....

Sounds like some changes will happen. So can we plan ahead or not, what a pain.

I expected changes through the season as cup competitions progressed, etc but surely whoever did the fixtures should have ensured no clashes to start with?

We also play at home on Wed Sep 11, BA play the night before & I know the groundsman isn't keen on two fixtures within 24 hrs on the pitch so BA might want that one changed as well.

Brilliant. Well done the FA, or whichever clowns worked this one out. I could have understood it last season, but this year everyone knows about the ground share.

I worry how much money this could cost us. Feckless w@nkers.

No point planning the away days just yet then.

Pretty poor planning not to avoid clashes at this stage of the season. 1 or 2 could have been understandable, but 9?! Looks like we could have plenty of games on Friday nights then?

Surely the clubs will switch many of the Saturday clashing fixtures with the away games won't they? I'd have thought switching half and playing half on a Friday night would solve that problem. Friday night switches for the August and April switches would lead to bigger attendances I'd have thought any way..

Am I missing something obvious..?

Something will have to be done, we can't afford to lose that many Saturday home games!

Surely they must have had some information from the Northern League about Bishop Auckland's fixtures, the first is a glaring error as Bishop Auckland are in FA competition! :|

But there could be clashes with switching the away fixtures maybe?

Friday night early/late season could lead to decent attendances, but we need to avoid night time matches as much as possible in winter, otherwise we will lose a fair bit of money.

Easter Weekend should be canny if we have something to play for, Farsley on the Saturday, then Wakefield on Easter Monday, providing there ain't much change to the fixtures

Everyone (especially the actual league we play in!) knows that we groundshare with Bishop, and they will also have been fully aware that Bishop's fixtures were already avaiable.

Let's face it, they have essentially said "Ah, fuck it, they can sort this s*** out themselves", haven't they?

Bar the final clash on April 26th I reckon you simply swap the home clashes for the same away fixture and it would work.

November 9th Northwich Victoria could be swapped with the away game
November 23rd Ossett Town could be swapped with away game
January 4th Clitheroe could be swapped with away game
January 25th Cammell Laird could be swapped with away game
February 8th Curzon Ashton could be swapped with away game
March 8th New Mills could be swapped with away game
April 5th Mossley could be swapped with away game

Been through Bishop's fixtures and it seems to work. Obviously I've not taken into account cup weekends etc but its a starting point for now.

When looking at it, Heritage Park is free on many Saturdays when we are playing away.

Sat 07/09/13 - Clitheroe (A)
Sat 28/09/13 - Cammell Laird (A)
Sat 26/10/13 - Lancaster City (A).
Sat 16/11/13 - New Mills (A).
Sat 30/11/13 - Mossley (A).
Sat 11/01/14 - Harrogate RA (A).
Sat 01/02/14 - Prescot Cables (A)
Sat 01/03/14 - Padiham (A).
Sat 15/03/14 - Northwich Victoria (A).
Sat 29/03/14 - Ossett Town (A).
Sat 12/04/14 - Salford City (A).

Fairly frustrating.

Worryingly I think you've got that spot on.
