He should have a word with Tori as I'm sure she deals with job vacancies.
Re: Tweet from Thompson concerning Darlo?
While slightly concerning that he may miss games in his current job, it is also hugely encouraging to see where his priorities clearly lie! Good man.

Re: Tweet from Thompson concerning Darlo?
Does anyone know what he does now??? As it might help if people are scouring the echo to know his area of 'expertise'.
Is very good that he's wanting to stay with us.

Thompson works in a factory, Peterlee way I believe not sure exactly what he does.
He put a number of holidays in last year to make every fixture and I am guessing he will do similar this year. However he works a shifts and on nightshift often goes to work straight after a game, this will not be possible when playing "New Mills" etc.

Phew I misread the OP!!
Thought he was wanting a new club.

I suspect that the travel will cause a number of players difficulties with work.
It requires a flexible emloyer to enable a player to be able to travel to all midweek away games. For those who work shifts, they will need an employer who allows them to swap shifts.
I have sympathy with players trying to fit in travel to games with a full time job.
Full time professional players don't know how easy they have it

My first thought too. I sometimes forget that these guys are having to make a living outside of football. It's a real show of commitment that he wants to find another job - especially at the moment - so that he can carry on playing for us.Spyman wrote:While slightly concerning that he may miss games in his current job, it is also hugely encouraging to see where his priorities clearly lie! Especially when the easy option taken by the unambitious many at this level would be to join someone like Spenny who will pay them more, have a bigger squad so less pressure to miss work, and never climb to a division where significant travel is required.fat tony wrote:My first thought too. Daft question, but could it work by putting a few players on Full Time Contracts and employ them through MG's Football Coaching Academy?

I don't know, I assumed money comes through MGs Academy, if that is not the case, then yes, dumb ideaSpyman wrote:With what money?fozzovmurton wrote:Daft question, but could it work by putting a few players on Full Time Contracts and employ them through MG's Football Coaching Academy?

Yes, but I'm sure Martin Gray can only afford to employ so many staff.fozzovmurton wrote:I don't know, I assumed money comes through MGs Academy, if that is not the case, then yes, dumb ideaSpyman wrote:With what money?fozzovmurton wrote:Daft question, but could it work by putting a few players on Full Time Contracts and employ them through MG's Football Coaching Academy?

Re: Tweet from Thompson concerning Darlo?
Additionally, as good as Thommo is at this level, he's no Brian Atkinson or Tony Norman who are currently on Gray's books.
The business Martin has built up is based on having that professional education, something that Thommo hasn't got on his CV.
