Ryan buckley
No, not a new signing for us, but just out of interest Darlington born off spinner (19 years old) made his debut for Durham today and has already taken 2 Surrey wickets. Anyone know anything about him/played against him? I know there's a few local league cricketers post on here.Would be interesting to monitor his potential, as it would be great to see a Darlo born cricketer play for England one day.

No not heard really of him, be great to have a Quaker playing for the Dynamos instead of Mackems and Horse sluggers.
Re: Ryan buckley
He's got me out a couple of times (no achievement to be fair!) and I'm pretty sure Bushead knows him very well he was still playing for the RA a couple of years ago. Well done to the lad.
Re: Ryan buckley
Ended up with a 5 for 86ish

Stunning debut getting a 5fer a real match changer that performance
Re: Ryan buckley

Wow. Even better that he's an RA player. Must be the first to play for Durham. His last 4 wickets were taken in 20 balls for 7 runs.

Re: Ryan buckley
Wasn't Mike Hendrick born in Darlington. He certainly played for Darlington schoolboys cricket

About time we (Durham) had a decent spinner!

Yes, Mike Hendrick was Darlington born. He used to live in Clifton Road until he moved, with his family, to the Midlands when he was about 15.

Bit harsh on Breese & Blackwell (now gone) as offies and Borthwick as a leggie.Noeldinho wrote:About time we (Durham) had a decent spinner!
But to have a young offie in the ranks who apparently can hold his bat is excellent and Breese was over looked for CC until this year and then injured.

Really pleased about this news. I grew up with his dad and his family.

Chuffed to bits for Ryan and the whole of the RA are so proud of him.
Since Durham turned first class he is the first RA lad to go on to play for them.
Ry currently although signed for Durham, plays his league cricket at Middlesborough CC as they are in the Premier division of the NYSD league.

Re: Ryan buckley
Blackwell has now gone unfortunately, but was always better at batting.
Breese hasn't featured much in the first-class game and is also better at batting.
Borthwick has only got one 5fer in his first-class career.

Re: Ryan buckley
Borthwick has never been given a real crack at the whip, Colly is loathed to bowl him first innings and Mustard preferred Blackie to him all along, regardless to have a young offie is great news
