Spawnymoor to finish season on 17th May

Post by mikkyx » Wed Apr 17, 2013 9:18 pm

Ray Simpson tweets:
"three spenny games arranged. May 13th at CN, 15th at Dunston, 17th home to Benfield. Consett away to re-arrange"

Joke. Absolute joke.

Well we've either just been awarded promotion, or done clean over by the NL/FA - wonder when we'll get the courtesy of knowing....

The FA(scists) need names long before that so they must have thrown the towel in then, surely

This will more or less hand the league to Spenny. No need to play loads of games before the Vase final now.

I have no objection to the season being extended for them.

Extending the season by THREE WEEKS should shut everyone up saying if they finish second, it's only because they had to play 4/5 times a week and cram everything in - although nah, no it won't, but anyhow...

What I don't find fair is that we have to wait 16 days after the season finishes to know our fate? That's bullshit, like.

Are the FA sticking to the May 7th promotion deadline, or is this an indication that they're going to promote both?

I think we'll win our final 3, which means they have to win their final 11, which is still a tough ask no matter how long they have to play the matches.

If there has been an extension - which to be honest I can't see then Spennymoor must have some inside info, why else would they delay re-arranging those games....very convenient.

If this is true is there any point in the club complaining to the fa. I feel numb. I wonder what Amos is going to say. Let alone Appleby.

Isn't someone at Spenny on the NL management committee or something like that?

I have no issue with an extension but this should of been decided weeks ago, so everyone has the same opportunity.

To be honest the FA will do whatever they want as we already know so we dust ourselves down and get to Shildon on Saturday and get a win.

Don't expect anything out of Appleby.

If we havn't just been awarded promotion then it would appear Spennymoor were aware of this which is surely completely wrong? Look at what Guernsey had to do to fit in their games because they wanted promotion why not Spennymoor?

This could be the shock we were in for. Legs done.

If this is true and unless they're promoting 2 or Spenny have bowed out there'll be a tidal wave of s*** 100m high over this.

We've played 3 games in 5 days to comply with the deadline for promotion. If this deadline has since been changed, then I'll be furious.

It's difficult to think Spenny haven't had some kind of tip off if it's a genuine extension.

It's in the interests of the Northern League for Darlington to spend at least another year in the division, with the crowds we bring. If it can be manufactured for that to happen, then....

It's not really up to the NL tho. The FA stipulate the date when all promotion/relegation issues must be sorted by.

Wonder if any other teams in other leagues have suddenly re-arranged games post 6th May?

Surely the promotion deadline is the FA's remit, can't see how the NL have much say in it?

Would the FA even give a s*** about something like this? We're so far off the footballing map down here. There must be dozens of pub leagues that need season extensions and the Northern League probably gets lumped in with them in getting an extension signed off.

Could it be a NL extension but not an FA one. No promotion for Spenny but we may not be officially champions by the FA meeting so could miss out as well.

There's a few other games past the deadline in another of Ray's tweets:
Rearranged: WB v Shil May 8, Marske v Shildon May 10, Bishop v Bill Syn May 13, TN v Shildon May 13, Bp v Guis may 15, RCA v Shildon May 15

They don't affect promotion - not sure about relegation - so could be played after the "deadline" no problem anyway?

Each division has a right to promote 1 team surely the FA can't remove that because 1 team didn't play it's fixtures.

All fixture regarding promotion and relegation must be played by this date, isn't that the sort of wording/ruling. If we have not just won promotion then there must be serious questions as to why Spennymoor can seemingly exert influence on the FA.

To arrange 3 games in such a short space of time they will have needed to know about an extension last week and we certainly didn't so how do they know?

Thing is relegation doesn't hit me that it matters that much in this division at the end of the day where are you getting relegated to...oh yeh NL2? Remember when we came down to this league the NL could decide whether we went NL2 or NL1 the FA just said NL...makes me think that relegation could just be decided and orchestrated by Amos.

Surely this means either spennymoor arent taking promotion or they know that 2 will be promoted or am I missing something , the above announcement from fa is only 2 weeks ago and seems quite categorical about when the promotion teams have to be provided to fa. I might be being cynical but do our own club not already know this but dont want to announce this to keep crowds up for last few home games. Otherwise why is there a big gap in spennys rearrangements from 6th may then its 13th may. I'm confused.
