Destroyed by Moss and Newton if I remember, dreadful weather but thankfully a rare blip in a superb season

Look at the state of the pitch, that'd never be played in the modern era.

Anyone remember the Torquay promotion match from that season? Puddles all over the pitch, torrential rain, the match was a farce.

The Chesterfield game was a little bit before I started watching Darlo. Great ball by Les though for Mitch's goal, I was only 14 that season and didn't go to away games so missed it live.

Absolutely lashed it down. That was the game we had a Moroccan or Algerian keeper I think.

Remember this game like it was yesterday. Did we also lose to promotion chasing Bury away at around the same time. I was about nine-years-old and horrified that the mighty Darlo could lose. Thinking back I was hooked for life after the 84-85 season of Barber, Airey, McLean etc

Hopefully youngsters watching this season are developing a love of Darlo which will see them through the next 30 years

I remember the Torquay match. I was standing at the Polam End as usual, however was soaked to the skin.

I didnt mind the rain as we were going up!!!!

Who went to Crewe on the Monday night -- the actual night we were promoted. I remember it so well. Kev Smith scoring in the wrong net and the journey home. We stopped off at a service station on the M62 and just as we were about to leave, the players arrived at the same service station. We all stood up and applauded them into the building. Everyone in the service station was looking to see what was going on and which famous people had arrived. It was the mighty Darlo and we were going up!!!!!!!

We got beat by Blackpool on the 1st May. We were beaten by Chesterfield on 23rd March and we played Torquay on the 14th May.

Bit different today when all games need to be finished by May 4th and we played Torquay on the 14th.

I remember the Blackpool game well as it was the first football match my girlfriend (wife to be) attended. A crowd of over 7,000 that night. She could not believe how much bad language there was at the match. Was she the first mystery Shopper??!!!!
