Celtic Nation v Darlington Extended Highlights

Post by TFDM » Sun Nov 18, 2012 12:54 pm

Enjoy. I think Youtube cogs are still whirring away on the HD version as that hasn't appeared yet but it should do soon.

http://www.darlington1883.co.uk/?p=2524

Please note there is no audio in this video due to the language used yesterday. Based on the feedback if this continues I will be continuing to remove the audio and won't be replacing it with anything else. I haven't got time to do extra work to accomodate people who want to continually swear through a football match. The odd remark happens to the best of us, but there was no need for Saturday.

Brilliant stuff. HD?! Is that new for the highlights?

That pitch looks delightful....

Great highlights as normal, the pitch was a bit of a field to say the least.

Did well to cut out a lot of the swearing there Kev. I'm no prude but some of the bad language was excessive.

Great highlights as per...

Going off the highlights though, how was that NOT a penalty in the first half? Just as well justice was done when the ref awarded the soft penalty at the end.

Most worrying was the several "Bambi on ice" moments from our defence, presumably due to the poor pitch. They're going to have to get to grips with these pitches because on another day we may get punished.

Some cracking entertainment from behind the camera as well.

Indeed. I don't care about swearing in general but yesterday was over the top by some stood near me.

Depends if excessive swearing classes as entertainment? Perhaps the highlights should be silent?

Thought the guy stood on the top right of the main stand was throwing some great moves at the end when the penalty was given

That would suit me, last time I heard abuse of a sectarian nature at a football game was an Old Firm derby.

I was going to ask whether I'd heard the word "fenian" thrown in there. We have some truly horrible people following our club.

It's a shame because the general noise makes watching the highlights better, silent highlights is a bit weird.

I wonder if giving some 'fan' reaction to stuff would start to make people realise they are going to appear on film so give a little thought about what they are saying. Especially if they are stood by our camera man!

This is stuff going on our club website it really should be clean.

Is there any progress on getting someone to commentate?

Truth be told its not something I've looked into and wouldn't honestly know how to start. Guessing a camera with a microphone jack (the one I used doesn't have one).

The only thing I can do is mute the sound but my computer is slow sloth like it takes to process it again and re-upload it. I honestly haven't got time today so just sit and let my computer process stuff as I have other work to be getting on with that has to be finished today.

Don't worry I was just querying it as I know it has been mentioned before on the ask the board forum. The highlights are fantastic! I was just suggesting it as something that will cover over the bad language.

Thanks for upload, much appreciated.
It's really not worth your effort to spend more time muting it. We can do
this ourselves if need be.

Top job.

If you want to project the family friendly image then muting the speakers isnt a good enough option. Why else do you think there is a swear filter on here? I dont expect it to be squeaky clean but people stood near the camera should really think twice before coming out with the stuff they came out with yesterday.

Yes. The board should be ashamed of themselves. First no sandwiches at Guisborough and now relentless swearing at Celtic Nation.

How we weren't at least 2-1 up at half-time I'll never know - a penalty turned down and Dowson's one-on-one fluff.

Still, a great result on a terrible pitch off the back of two ropey performances.

Does anyone know how to mute the audio in Final Cut pro? I can't seem to do it...

I say Kev, have you seen AFC Rushden's highlights, they are very good with excellent commentary. I suspect that the commentary is added later because the commentator always describes the action in the past tense, rather than as if it was live.

Worked out how to mute it.

Might be able to look at doing more stuff next season. I'm in desperate need of a new mac as my old intel Core 2 duo based MacBook just ins't up to the job. It takes hours to process the video. Our Mac Pros at work take a fraction of the time.

I've been looking at a new computer for a while but can't afford it at the moment so it'll have to wait for the time being.

Hmmm, how much are you looking at to get a new computer Kev? I mean it's going to be used for club business right? Running the official website, doing the highlights, all voluntary for the club...and we fans ARE the club, right?

Anybody else thinking what I'm thinking here?

Ah, I get your angle Q. It's a great call, but would think over a grand if Apple is the product of desire. Still entirely doable though

Well over a grand for the model I want. I'll be buying it myself, in fact I would have had it this Christmas but I booked a holiday instead so I'm starting again. To be honest for video editing final cut pro and a mac are pretty much the best solution. Plus I can run windows on it anyway if I need it.

Hopefully by the time I start next season I'll have a new rig and crucially a few large external hard drives for storing the games so we have the potential to keep the footage. Which will hopefully allow us to do something come the end of the season in terms of a highlight DVD.
