Whitley Bay this Saturday

Post by poppyfield » Thu Nov 01, 2012 4:06 pm

To be honest i cant take anymore of the west saga at the moment. :(
We have a big match this Saturday, i know nothing about Whitley Bay FC, looking at the league they seem to be doing ok, so it should be a good game, they didnt play mid week, so like us they will be fresh, really looking forward to this one, if the weather holds, should be a good crowd.

Potentially and arguably the toughest game yet. I think Gotty is back for this one. I know a blip is iminent but with form like Barca and Letty, lets hope this amazing run continues. We certainly have the squad to make it so. Up the Quakers!!!

3-0 or 3-1 if Norton starts again.

Aye should be a tough game for us, I'll take a 1-0 win atm, making my drumming debut this Saturday aswell.

Gott or Keltie to start before Clough for me.
Clough did ok but I blame him for goal at Billingham and Keltie made a difference when he came on.

I'd stick Turns in. Probably the best keeper in the league, he's had enough time to work with the defence in training sessions/friendly matches and we could do with taking Norton out of the spotlight. Keltie in for Clough, Clark should have had enough minutes now to start.

GK.Craig Turns
RB.Stephen Harrison
CB.Gary Brown
CB.Joe Tait
LB.Darren Richardson
RM.Adam Nicholls
CM.Clark Keltie
CM.Leon Scott
LM.Amar Purewal
ST.Stephen Thompson
ST.David Dowson

Subs: Jack Norton, Dan Smith, Craig Gott, Chris Emms, Shaun Reay

Although Dan Smith is our best left back, I would have to keep Richardson there as he really has put in some sterling displays lately plus, he adds more physicality to the back line.

Two drums on Saturday then??? This will be either great, or a complete disaster!!
Last time there were two drums was at the Arena, it just didn't work... Lets hope this doesn't happen again.

Think it will be a belter of a game though and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm glad Gott is back for this one. I'm sure it won't be the same starting 11 as last weekend, as I feel the midfield will be changed.

Also reckon Whitley Bay will give out toughest test, with a decent away following, which can only add to the atmosphere - roll on Saturday...

That was the main reason I bought the drum because he isn't always there.

Bringing 5 non-Darlo fans with me on Saturday I'm hoping to convert at least 1!

Wonder if MG will give Craig Turns his first start this Saturday, it has to happen sometime, maybe this weekend. Thoughts anyone?

Wouldn't surprise me. The fact that Turns was put straight on a contract shows he is highly rated. Although Norton didn't do anything wrong in my eyes against Synners, so it would be tough to drop him. Tough decisions sometimes have to be made though.

I also expect either Keltie or Gott to replace Clough. Not sure which one though. I'd be tempted for Keltie.

Should be a good game, and possibly the biggest "home" game of the season so far. Hopefully another 3 points!

I'd like to see Keltie get a start. He looked good when he game on last week and could give us that bit extra in what will be a hard game

Keltie played a couple of beautiful "Hollywood balls" last week, and helped us really control the game. He's certainly pushing for a start!

Surely not? Surely, as bedale so beautifully and logically argued, Keltie is such a bad player that he'd look s*** in any league, even the under-11 girls?

Might be Keltie to start, then bring Gott for the last 30mins, as with Keltie/Clough

Could be more. A school of thought on the NLZ that Whitley Bay has a "massive" following away, more the case for the big games. I know they have already sold 2 coaches. Not sure if there will be a 'West Auckland effect'.

I'd hope more. We've had nearly 1500 for the last two games. Sounds like there will be an increase in away fans too.

Agree with PT, think we could have >1500 tomorrow. They add up to 100 or so to a normal home game in the NL. This is a key game so I expect a decent Darlo turn out, perhaps similar to;

Ashington 1498
Bedlington 1481
Dunston 1513

+ the extra 100 from Bay.

Only change I would make is to put Gott back in. He's better for the team than I believe Keltie would be. We were lacking something in the centre of the park early on, and its no coincidence that Gott's arrival has sparked Leon's goalscoring form, which has been a huge asset. He's also calmer, doesn't give it away and positionally is smart. All of which I think are advantages for him over Keltie.

Not sure also if Amar might be in line to be rested. He's not looked himself the last two games so wonder if Emms comes back in and Nicholls rotates over the left. One of the benefits of the squad we've got is that we can shuffle the pack if need be.
