The Ashes
The rain to save England and make the match a draw, 20-2, trailing by 219 runs, Aussies still have an innings to play

Re: The Ashes
At first I thought maybe it was just really good batting wicket, with England taking no wickets in two consecutive sessions. But when the Aussies then take two in the space of half an hour, you realise it's not the conditions, they're basically just much better at cricket, and with more bottle.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion!
Re: The Ashes
Going to be a struggle - the weather forecast tommorrow is pretty good (or bad depending on your loyalties) but then again it was supposed to bucket down all day in Cardiff and didn't arrive until 3.30 ish.
Need a couple of players to get their heads down and stick around for hours on end - like the Aussies do - but I don't think we have any with a combination of technique and mental attitude to do it - they seem happy with a flash 50 or 60 and then give their wicket away.
Should never have played it in a foreign country anyway - much better at Chester-le Street (a good old English name).

Re: The Ashes
With only 1 day left of the series, we really need Pietersen to keep his head and do what Ponting did for the Aussies, could do with Strauss putting on a score and when he goes we then need Colly to stick around, bat most of the day tomorrow and we should get a draw and start all over

Nothing to do with bottle. It's concentration that this England lot lack and no one more than that twat Pieterson who hasn't even got the guts to apologise for one of the most wank shots ever seen in test cricket.SuperQuaker wrote:At first I thought maybe it was just really good batting wicket, with England taking no wickets in two consecutive sessions. Re: The Ashes
What's all this fucking moaning about Pietersen. He's our best player by a mile, and every fucker slates him when he plays a bad shot. Thats his game. I think the guy is awesome, has a bit of drive about him. Just wish he was still captain!wylam_rangers wrote:Nothing to do with bottle. Got no problems with the type shot K.P played, he'd already got a few runs on the board with the style shot, his only mistake is he should of pulled out of the shot as soon as the ball swerved as much as it did, still Pietersen is our best batsman by a long shot and still came out topscorer in our 1st innings

I don't have a problem with the shot. It's just that it was not a test match shot at that stage in the match. What annoys me is that he seems to think it's ok not to acknowledge he played the wrong shot in the circumstances.
Yes he is one of our best players but what is wrong with a bit of honesty.

Lets not get carried away, in 2005 our first test we played awful. I hope we can bat out the day, showers are forecast and a draw would feel like a victory.

Let's face it, at cricket we are not good enough to beat the Aussies.

Re: The Ashes
There goes Pietersen early on the morning 31-3 leaving the ball and then the ball just swings back in a touch and it cracks the stumps. Or well.

Re: The Ashes
I am standing by my earlier comment about England players not having enough bottle. In the first innings they looked half decent, and amassed a useful score, but now the Aussies have scored even heavier and applied some pressure, they're just falling apart.

Re: The Ashes
This time "no-shot" from Pieterson.
Wonder if he'll tell us it's "just the way I play" this time

Re: The Ashes
They did great towards the end to be fair, but perhaps the same Monty and Jimmy really need to examine why the Aussies were comfortably on their way to 700 runs in the first place!MSG Quaker wrote:SuperQuaker wrote:I am standing by my earlier comment about England players not having enough bottle. Re: The Ashes
I noticed that Ricky Ponting is now bitching about us sending out our physio and 12th man out , like they would not have done the same thing.
Stop moaning Ponting, you never killed us off and that is your problem, well done Collingwood, Anderson and Monty

And Panesar likely to be dropped in favour of Onions, with the attack now not using the second spinner.Ned_Flanders wrote:I noticed that Ricky Ponting is now bitching about us sending out our physio and 12th man out , like they would not have done the same thing.

Bell on standby to replace Flintoff, if he doesn't recover.
Personally, I'd drop Pietersen, and not just because I loathe and detest the man, his arrogant showboating when a determined, thoughtful, innings was wanted, and the need to knuckle in and think about his shots should come as a sharp lesson to him.
He's in a test match, not a t20 competition, no matter how much he'd prefer to be playing in the IPL for buckets of cash.
