Darlington RA 1-3 Darlington FC

Post by micra3 » Sat Jul 11, 2009 2:14 pm

Youth lads and trialists, not as exciting as last night but did see a few faces at the RA ground.

including:
Colin Todd
Alan white
All the youth team including Maddo and Liddle

Altogether a pretty boring game. :|

Thought Whitey scored for Luton last night at St Neots. Guess he can't stay away and probably already regrets not sitting it out a bit longer.

Useless administrator twat!!

The match wasn't up to much but all the same it was a nice afternoon out.

I thought Darlo's second and third goals were both well taken in the second half but there really wasn't anything to write home about.

All the same though I hope the RA survive as it is a nice litte club and it was a bit of a luxury being able to take a pint outside and watch the match!

The 2nd and 3rd goals were perfect examples of why we should have our wingers attempted to get round the back and pull the ball across, the finish for the 2nd was a smart diving header, other than that we hit the bar in the first few minutes, scored a tap in to go 1-0, then gave away a penalty, 2nd half seen to quick goals to make it 3-1 and that was pretty much it

No he didn't...
The lads that did feature who i could recognize were:

(3) Phil Gray - left back
(6) Luke ...? - played centre half for the first 45
(5) Ville Vaisanen - according to Josh Gray he is back, big blonde lad at the back
(2) Jon Hewitson - right back

(11) Sam Lomas, left midfielder. Good little player, impressed with him
(4) - centre midfielder, ginger hair
(8) John McReady, centre midfielder. Again a good competent player, think he might see a few appearances in the first team this season
(7) James Baxter, right midfielder. Currently on trial at the club. Reminded me of Nelthorpe.

(10) Jordan Marshall - scorer of the first goal, hit the bar inside 2 minutes also with a sweet strike. Curtis Main of the future?
(9) Michael Smith - big lad up front, noticed he was training with the first team at Billingham last night with Lomas

Subs I identified -
(15) Lee Collins - blonde lad who played up front second half
(14) Joe Duffy - played centre of defence with Hutchinson second half
(16) Adam Hutchinson - centre of defence
Paul Grainger - can't remember no, might of been 12. Midfielder who likes to get forward
Alex Robinson? - I'd guess that he would of been there, as he is part of the Youth Team. May of played upfront with Collins in the second 45

ah number 5, he stood out from most of the team, mainly because he was always jeeing the lads up, looked half decent today, next we'll be having Anthony Peacock on trial

To be honest if you were to say he's coming on trial id be quite pleased by it, thought the little lad was quality when he was here, shame he never got the chance when Penney came as the lad had quality

So much quality that he carved out a distinguished league career after leaving Darlo. Or not.

He got knocked off the ball far too easily for me. Too lightweight.

Seem to remember wen we played Hartlepool in the cup there fans were impressed by him, also remember him at Grimsby where he pretty much took the mick in the Grimsby penalty area and won a penalty, i wouldnt have him in as a first 11 player but he would be a good squad player and wouldnt cost that much

Vaisenen? He was playing in the Northern league wasnt he, guess he must still live local.

As with Convery it costs nothing to have a look and would be cheap. But slightly worried if the only people we're giving a trial to are these two?

Im getting nightmare visions of Holloway and Duke jumping on the Darlo reunion gravy train now :problem:

thought (8) John McReady played really well today in the center of the park, did the easy stuff well and was always pass and moving and not scared to take players on.
This was the first time ive seen the youth team play but i was very impressed the way lidds has them playing football, keeping it on the deck pass and move, wingers getting down the flanks with full backs supporting sometimes and overlapping.

Tell me this is a wind up.
It put me in a bad mood when I read about Craig James, then things went from bad to worse with Convery.
I was just getting over the shock of these two potentially coming back (time being a great healer and all that) but the announcement of Vaisenan who is arguably (alongside Hoilloway) one of the worst centre halves ever seen at the arena coming back has now sunk me into a deep depression.
They'll all come out of the woodwork now, I can just picture Jonjo Dickman, David Duke, Adrian Webster, Paddy Collins and Craig Russell picking the phone up to Hodgy and asking him to set them up with a trial with Colin Todd.
Anyway must be positive...onwards and upwards etc.

Ditto darlomilo, Macca seems a great little player, always interested, passing and moving, driving forward. Him and Sam Lomas on the left, both look good for the future. Lidds is doing an amazing job with the Youth Team

The same.

He was living with Teemo Tainio up in Sunderland for a while but moved back to Finland to take up a coaching role in the New Year I think. I think he could've been a decent player if he'd had decent payers around him, and he had the right attitude.

Also, he only drinks J20!

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

St Juste's biggest mistake was leaving darlo, surely everyone can remember his goal in a 3-3 draw away to bristol rovers (same game craig russell scored after about 30 seconds)
