When did Wales beat England 2-1 ? must have been 30 years ago at least

1955 and the shirt would have looked nothing like

It was the best kit of recent times bar none. Full hoops just looks amateur

It seems many people have not bothered to read Herts_darlo's post about the timing of getting the strips out for sale.
Hoops are very rare and it seems that this has been the reason why there has always been a delay in getting replicas from the manufacturers.
It would not be acceptable to delay things by another few weeks just for the sake of a slightly different design - time and funds from sales are most urgent!!!

Also, why is the red away kit the worst ever? We have played away in red previously.
You're just looking at a computer generated picture :D

You need only look back 3 seasons to that ridiculous Watford strip we played in for the worst away kit.

Perhaps next season when there are fewer urgent matters to resolve close season we might be able to sort the following season's kit much sooner.

Cos it just looks really really s***..

Never understood all this Away Kit has to be red s*** we never had a red away kit or red trim on the shirts for the 1st few years i followed us .. first one i remember was 92s 3rd kit. Then not again till Uncle george  tried to turn us into mackems mkII

I always considered yellow to be our away colours :D Yellow trim on the best hooped home shirt as well ...89-91 double champions kit

Oh and the 2009-10 yellow away kit rocks!!!!

@Corky's OG
Not sure how long you have been watching Darlo but I have a red (with a bizarre black diamond pattern) from 1992 and it was our 1st choice away kit.
We also had plain red and even green away kits in the old 3rd division in the mid-80's.
The Watfordesque strip of 2009/10 years ago was vomit inducing however, our luckiest ever strip (home or away) was the yellow and blue away strip of 95/96 - only 1 league defeat in that.

Sunderland play in stripes - not plain red - but you knew that, right? ;)

The new red away kit will look fine and dandy with our badge and new sponsors name on and I think I will get one

Been watching Darlo since 87 yellow trim on hobbot home shirt yellow away strip :D

The red and black strip was in fact our away shirt for the 93/94 season

Away shirt for 92/93 was sky blue and all red 3rd kit

Yes i know sunderland play in stripes ....my point is we only seemed to start putting red trim in the home shirts when sunderland supporter Reynolds owned us ...who can forget the ORIGINAL 2003/04 red n white stripes home kit . which was still bloody awful even when changed to black stripes.
The day i saw the Arena was 95% red seats is when i thought this is a bad idea

96 yellow n blue away job ...best away kit ever

I think the beauty of the 95/96 was that it was also hoops but in a different colour. Personally i'd like to see the away kit looking the same as the home in terms of design but in a different colour, just like the 95/96 shirt. However i imagine cost plays a part as it's probably a lot cheaper and a lot easier to make more profit on a plain away shirt.

@Divas,

Challenge for you if you choose to accept it!
Can you add more shirts to your little animation? Away strips too in time order?
Sorry, no idea how to even upload even a basic pic to my profile
Plus I don't want to be seen to be copying you :D

I’m presuming we are simply 1 - 11 numbers next season, and thus no squad names on the back.

With the big square, I hope there is some printing options for the number on the back.

I probably could, if i had a photo of the shirts.

These al came from the Uncovered shirt museum and they were the only ones available.

The speed it flicks through, you could add subliminal messages in there. "Buy CIC". We'd make a fortune.

Throughout the 70s we played with red trim, to the extent that I even managed to get a Darlington "Subbuteo" team, because it was the same as Liverpool's Away kit!! The red must have been ditched around the early 80s (83?) My first Darlo top, from the mid 80s Div 3 team, has black and gold bars.

I regard the red trim as traditional and quite like it. Id prefer full hoops but the new kit looks very smart, much better than any recent ones in my opinion.

Will the shirt be available in long and short sleeves? The picture shows both, so just wondering if both will be available to buy? I'd be keen on a long-sleeved version myself. I like to be able to roll the sleeves up you see...

Is that the original batch to be followed by others in batches of 200 - I hope! Surely we aim to sell at least 500 of both home and away tops? What's the betting the first 200 are sized 'small' lol.

Kidding about the sizes by the way!

I'm not surprised given the manufacturing costs,we can't afford to be left with any leftover stock.

So we are going to order in relatively small numbers which may not be the best but due to possible exposure to losses sounds like it's just something we will have to cope with.

I know it would be more work/hassle etc but can we use pre-order with deposits.

Does anyone know if we are building a database of our fans/shop customers email addresses so we can contact them with developments/new products.

I have to say I was genuinely amazed at the small profit margin on the replica shirts. I thought there was quite a bit of profit in them. Presumably it needs a club to buy very big quantities to be able to get the unit price down.

You say presumably, was the question not asked at what level will the unit price drops? (I am not suprised at all that 200 isn't a tipping point!)

Is there any sort of agreement in place that we can accumulate what we buy and get a price accordingly...for instance we take 200 now and pay that price and should we want more then we can get the benefit of the marginal price decrease from buying in bulk?

Obviously I've not seen the figures, and others have, but having ordered kits with full printing and embroidery myself in much smaller quantities, I would have though we'd have close to 100% profit margin.

Is going for a specifically hooped design is what is costing extra?

That's the thing though, it's a stock design i believe.

Could it be that our financial reputation following Reynolds, Houghton and Singh is so shot to pieces that we are illegible for any discounts etc and have been limited to a finite quantity to begin with? A serious question as I don't know how this sort of thing works really.

Doubtful, it may have an effect if wanting credit but that's about it.
