I've recorded an interview today with Denis Pinnegar ahead of tonight's programme, talking about tomorrow's appeal.

Will be on after 6pm on BBC Tees.

Is there any chance of this and the Hodgy interview being bundled up as another 'Week in Darlo' podcast, like you did for the various interviews around the time of the Barrow game? I really liked those podcasts, they were proper convenient.

I listened tonight and they was a lot of realism I think in what Denis said. It appears our appeal in terms of league is largely under the expectant amount of travelling fans in the NL with possible police/crowd issues and also special circumstances in regards to the FA rules when a CVA is not completed. Highlighting Portsmouth as an example if they can not agree a CVA or a 100% CVA although rules for league v conference was mentioned against this argument. Would Portsmouth be relegated to Step 5 was the point.

In regards to the club being a new club in theory I think Denis said this was the case by the rules, as we had to apply for a new football licence. However Durham FA said we can use Darlington FC name and so did the FA, although this will be under discussion tomorrow.

In regards to the Cup competitions the old club under the old share applied for FA Cup/Trophy/Vase etc, we even paid a fee to enter. It seems a little unfair that the new club/football licence should of applied before the 31st March when we did not have an idea we would be a new club/share.

Not sure why we were allowed to play in the league to be honest under the rules it seems we must of been given exceptional circumstances at this point. Does this back up our appeals or hinder it - I don't think anyone knows.

That was my take on the appeal parts of the interview although was looking after kids whilst listening so may of missed a bit or misheard slightly.

Hmm... That doesn't sound particularly promising, does it?

But we can then have closure and move on.

Got to admit in a perfect world where the FA says, "ok we see you done the best you could and we agree off you go to the Evostick Permier as Darlington FC and by the way good luck in the FA Cup & Trophy" then it was not good and was downplayed really.

I think after the last meeting that Denis went to it has had an affect on his positive outlook of how the FA will deal with us. He may also be playing things down so not to build up our hopes/expectations of the appeal.

Indeed.

You know, part of me just wants a different opening fixture than Bishop away - it's going to completely take the buzz out of our first home game.

Also, I really don't want to get stuck in the Northern League for more than a year, but I fear big spending Spenny putting a kybosh on that too.

Unlikely, people still bang on about Feethams and potential returns still to this day.

lol the only way we will ever return to Feethams is if when we build our new stadium we vote to call it "New Feethams". Which actually would be my preferred name for it lol.
