I would of preferred Bishop as well facilities are a lot better. Looking at Shildons ground I don't know how it will meet the ground criteria.

Hmm - where's the Ron Greener Club going to sit??

I think this is going to be fun - so long as we keep winning.

Everybody going on about bishop and there nice new stadium. I better they would have wanted double what we paying at Shildon!!!
I doubt 1883 picked Shildon for selfish reasons, they would have picked it for the good of Darlington FC and the money we don't have at the min!!!!
Come on guys get real, we have. We on new beginnings, let's not run before we can walk!!! This is the reason why we got in this mess in the 1st place!!!

Really cant see how this was given the nod over Bishop why not put it to a vote - there is no incentive for fans not wanting to travel to make the effort to get here - especially in the middle of winter

when shifts at work allow, I will be more inclined to travel to bish/shildon area than the previous wind tunnel......a cheaper day out, better atmosphere......looking forward to it :D

Who would vote? There are no shareholders yet. How would they organise the vote? There just isn't time to organise a vote, this has to be sorted in plenty of time for the FA meeting on the 15th.

My feelings too!

I grew to hate the Arena and I mean hate.

The season before last I didn't go to a single home game, the only time that has happened in about 35 years (I've been down south for 24 years).

I think Shildon works out as the best option based on both the cost of the ground share and transport.
Many Darlo fans travel from further afield by train and this option makes rail travel viable.

Car parking might be an issue but at least it seems we can use local street parking (free of charge) - better than the £5 at the A***a - or having to make the long trek from the nearest legal matchday street parking space.

Bishop's ground has a small amount of on-site parking but otherwise the only option is the local Sainsbury's (I think they'll soon clamp down on football fans leaving their cars there for hours at a time) or a long walk from the nearest street parking.

It would be good if a fan's bus service can be started from Darlo on matchdays.

Going forward, we need to seriously consider a suitable location back in town where we can make our future and permanent home.

It seems that Feethams is out of the question due to planning permission already being in place to develop the site, so we need to look at where else is viable.

The cattle market is moving out of town in the future and this seems to be the right size for a stadium - close to lots of houses and the station though, but otherwise a decent location.

I think the debate on our future home should start straightaway!

@Jacko - no idea who Fouldsy is, but my posts didn't appear in the article.
Trying to get a debate started on a suitable location for a future ground.
Let's get some suggestions please.

Stop whining. Shildon's ground looks a million times better than the arena - only a fool would disagree.

Considering the Ponderer and Enigma seem to have different opinions I wonder how you conclude they are one and the same person?

I did try to tell you that the gents had a bit of a tree growing in them.  I'd imagine and hope that a few things have been done to the ground, since our visit, which have must have been a good 10 years ago.

My earlier posts have not appeared in the article.
I fully support the ground share with Shildon as it is the best option we have - and at a decent price.

We can now start the debate about where our future home should be and get a consensus of opinion.

My choice would be the site of the cattle market - it is also the nearest viable site to Feethams which now seems to be a non-starter.

Cattle market area would be good but the street access is quite restrictive ( even though they take trucks full of livestock there). I think the car park next to the town hall could be utilised.

The cattle marker site is earmarked for housing. I'd imagine it would fetch a fairly hefty sum and probably a fair bit more than we could afford.

Closer to town centre usually means higher rates

The council are waiting for tenders to build a new cinema complex on that land next to the Town Hall, along with food outlets and bars. Which is something the town desperately needs.
