Tori tweeted this

@darlo_baron need a manager now ! All in good hands (moi's)

Then 1 minute later

Before the message boards buzz, I ain't choosing the new dfc manager. Professional input required and all under control. #rumourmill

I'm confused.. Does anyone know anything?

Yeah, I know that 1883 are seeking professional input and that they have the choosing of a new manager under control. Oh, and Tori isn't personally choosing the manager.

What's to be confused about?

Actually Tori has the ideal credentials needed to extract everything required from our next manager.

In what way?

Do you mean that her clearly joking first message suggests she's picking the manager and then the second feels the need to clarify she's not so the rumour-mongers don't run off to share more misleading information on here?

I think she has quickly realised that anything said in jest or otherwise to do with Darlo is picked apart then put back together with some shall we say embellishments

I was thinking about this.

How can we appoint a manager until we've appointed a board? While I'm very grateful to those on the 1883 board for stepping in and doing what they've done, are they the people who should/will be selecting the new manager?

I was under the impression that an elected board would appoint a senior management team of paid employees, which is probably not possible any more given the level we will be playing. How does this now change? Surely 'shareholders' should still elect the board that will be trusted with making these big decisions?

At the moment, the board is a group of (much appreciated) volunteers with various skills. Do they have the right (and skills) to make such a huge decision on our behalf?

Do we have time to elect a board in the meantime though? Probably not.
Do we actually have a full group of 'owners' yet to make a vote? No.

Just some food for thought!

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

An elected board will still be made up of a similar ilk of people, fans and local business men won't it as we are going to be a Community club ?

I think you are right - she was joking
Another later tweet reads

@Darlotoon I think surely people can't think I'm serious then I think, hell, better set the record straight.

Perhaps in a time when fans are looking for any info we can, public domain joking like this needs to be kept to a minimum (NOTHING is impossible with Darlo and how many times have we thought something was a joke and it turned out to be true!)

Yes, but they'll be representative of the fans because they'll have been chosen by the fans.

At present, the interim board may or may not represent the views and interests of the majority of fans.

I am not criticising or questioning the interim board - just making the point that at present, interim is all they are - are they the people who will be making a decision over our new manager (which in my opinion is a far bigger decision than the ones they've made so far over the CVA, which was really forced upon them, and the stadium move - I think they've done right in both so far).

There isn't time to wait for an elected board to make the decision. Before we elect a board we need to become shareholders and realistically that process won't be complete within a month.

A manager needs to be appointed before the end of May in order to plan & assemble a squad in time for pre-season.

The interim board can appoint a manager.

When you look into the NCE it does look like a significantly better run organisation than the Royston Vasey Invitational Clown Challenge that we've ended up in.

Is any new manager likely to be appointed on a full-time basis?

Most of the managers below BSN seem to be part time (anecdotal evidence only) but I could see us having a full time manager. I suppose we may even have a couple of full time players on our books (we have John McReady and Phil Gray contracted, anyway).

Yep, I agree with that, and am glad to hear they're getting 'professional' advice. I'd be happy if this came from Liddle - although he didn't do a great job in the job himself, I reckon he knows what is needed. Someone like him, or one or two other ex-pros who are still close to the club (even someone like Atkinson, who is a bit removed now), would I'm sure impart some wisdom that mere supporters won't have.

As long as they don't ask Kevan Smith.
