Can anyone clear this up for me?

Just before half time, Johnson and a Grimsby player were injured with a clash of heads.

As they were getting treatment, it looked like the darlo players were coming to the touchline for a drink and the linesman was trying to stop them and telling them to go back on the pitch.

It looked like there was "an exchange of opinions".

I could be wrong. I usually am.

Didn't see this incident. Although I did see when Broughton was down in the box, we put the ball out due to his injury which looked like a head injury although afterwards don't think it was. When Grimsby restarted they did not give the ball back they just played on, did anyone else spot this or did I miss something.

He seemed to be stopping the players leaving the pitch. Maybe players aren't allowed to leave the pitch without the referees permission? The linesman seemed a bit of a jobsworth tbh

I personally thought it was just a misplaced pass, and so Grimsby didn't need to give the ball back. Of course, play could have been stopped for the potential foul on Broughton....

Didn't see the first one, but we didn't put the ball out for the other - it was just a wayward clearance. I thought it was a foul anyway, but there we go.

The other one that seemed to have people confused was their booking, when they were given the free kick - the ref had given it to us for the reckless challenge (which is why he was booked) but the first incident, therefore the one which had to be penalised, was Keltie's handball a couple of seconds before, which is why it went the other way. Free kicks are given for the first incident, not the most serious, which is why the kick went to them, but so did the booking.

Just to clear something up about the players coming for a drink, they are not aloud to leave the pitch to get a drink. This is a yellow card offence if seen that way

yes lets have players just causally leaving and re-entering the field of play at will, genius idea.

So can the manager chuck a few water botles on the pitch for the lads to drink and pass around then they chuck it back to the manager?

Cheers  , that's what happens when you talk and watch football - you don't catch everything. I was sure we had not misplaced a pass all game - we played that well.

They are supposed to be passed to the players not thrown . How often do we see they be thrown on to the player

That's a no go classed as outside interferance, manager could get booked even sent to stands. But that would be the worst case senario, officials need to apply a little bit of common sense in these circumstances..

I know dehydration can be a serious problem , but players do seem to take a lot of liquid on board these days. Personally I always found drinking lots of liquid before and during a game more of a hinderance than a help - but perhaps beer affects the metabolism in different ways.

What, like goalkeepers do? The point being that it was a break in play and they went to get a drink. It's not as if they wandered off back to the dressing room to go for a s***.
