I think the heading of the post goes for most of us not just Lidds.

It's not fair on him. It takes a great man to do what he has done since January. Should have a statue of him in the town center haha

I have been following Darlo for more years than i care to remember and apart from the occasional good seasons it has always been hard following them so i will ask for my statue to go next to his.

I think lidds has done a great job and would love him to stay, but we can't have threating to walk away every other week. If it's time to move on then it's thanks for all your hard work and effort. I don't know who would come in to this basket case club, but we are going down anyway so anyone could do the job really.

Something is wrong with that team, at least he is holding his hands up by saying he feels like quitting.

But really, we are too far gone for him quitting to have any effect. He might as well see the season out, let's face it we are down. And nobody else will take this job on right now.

Next season? To be honest, unless Lidds shows he can get some results, we're probably going to need a BSN manager who knows BSN players and the part time game.

Most likely Lidds will say something along the lines of he has done all he can do with the senior team and that he is content to step back into the youth team as long as someone else can be appointed to take over the reigns of the first team job. As a side, is it too early to be canvassing for potential managers for next season to bring us back up from the BSN? Maybe one can be in place soon enought o decide who to keep at the end of this term?

Someone with good local knowledge too, such as Mick Tait?

It'd bring the crowds in.

Hodgy always could get backs to the wall results with poor teams.

Dont think Hodgy would entertain the thought. Tait on the other hand has had a few years at the lower levels and has done reasonably well at Blyth. Whoever we were to pick it will seem like shopping at Netto after a few years of shopping at Sainsburys!

Didn't Hodgy in the Echo say he would be interested at helping Lids out but his family would be against him returning to the limelight. Have to say he could be just what we need at the moment.

Tait isn't actually a bad shout, did reasonably well under GR during a turbulent period and knows the level. Blyth aren't half the team without him.

Why would Aspin leave Halifax? They could swap places with us and are stable.

For clarity, Liddle hasn't gone. But said he's been thinking of stepping down for sometime, says his stance isn't only a reaction to today.

I guess he's exhausted.

For me its worth looking more local i.e. Aycliffe, Spenny etc Harrison , Scott and Smith from RA get my shout :)

these lads know the local non league scene..I reckon the majority of our squad next season will be made up of north east lads so I think its important that we have people running the football side of things that have knowledge of Northern League and above....

i think it might be more that he is not getting what he thinks it the best out of the lads. I think he felt there have been games that despite the circumstances surrounding the club we should have had more about us than our opponents

Aycliffe/Spennymoore/RA! we'll be in the Blue Square North not Northern League Division 1!

true but the people that run these clubs clearly know how to get the best out of players and howto work with limitations so whats to say they couldnt have success at a higher level ?

3 divisions is a massive step up. Liddle will still be the way forward next year I think, he will have a pre-season to get things set up his way and will have time to bring in players to his liking without restriction.

Lidds would be great but just imagine if we lost a few games and his management skills were questioned on here, he would walk then we would be all the so and so's under the sun. We need someone hardy who can take the pressure and if needed dish it back out and prove the idiots wrong.
I do hope there is no truth in this rumour as I want lidds to stay and I think he could do a good job here
