Tomorrows Songs - Lets name check our past Darlo heroes

Post by dfc1883 » Fri Jan 06, 2012 7:44 pm

It would be a great commemoration if we could sing the names of all of our heroes who have worn the black and white or managed our magnificent club over the years. The more obscure, the funnier the chanting could get. Let there be no silence tomorrow, no matter what the score.

A couple of my favourites.

Darren Roberts,
Marco Gabbiadini,
Pawel Abbott,
but by far the biggest chant for Craig Liddle.

....oh and I just though a rendition of the original D.A.R.L.O could tie right in with this.

Who were your top few heroes?

Will I be on my own if I try to start the "super Barry Conlon" chant in the spirit of this?

Not if you start it near me.

Robbie Painter was my hero as a kid. Did he ever have a specific chant?

I don't think Loukas Papaconstantinou scans too well in a football chant, so it'll have to be Glen Naylor as he goes to the same barber as me down here in York.

A nod to Pedro Paulo would be a nice touch too.

I'm not there but might I suggest a series of "there's only one....." for the players who play some part tomorrow?

That's what I thought Mikkyx.

Lets start off with Sam, and go through the whole team that's playing, ending with, "There's only 1 Craig Liddle".

Will be there tomorrow.

Legendary Ron Harbertson,
I'm one of the few who will have seen him play for us.
February 1958, FA cup ,after drawing 3-3 at Stamford Bridge the Quakers thrashed Chelsea 4-1 with 3 goals in extra time. He worked night shift down the pit, scored for Darlo in the afternoon and was back down the pit at midnight, and premership Prima Donnas have to be rotated cause they
get tired if they play more than one game a week.

What a hero, remember the game against Port Vale when he got a hat-trick.

Must have been late 70's early 80's
